Inwood Home of the Week: a Double-Wide on Meadow — Double Lot, That is!

It has been said, well, maybe whispered, that all the new-ish homes in Preston Hollow (east of Preston) look alike.

And there may be a certain ring of truth to that. After all, you start with a lot that is about 100 feet wide, 150 feet deep give or take a few inches. What can you do with it? Cram as much downstairs living as you can, but inevitably, the master will go up if the common rooms get too roomy. And then you are forced to a very basic layout: walk in, see the family room with attached kitchen ahead, living to the right, dining to the left, a study and butler’s pantry stuck somewhere nearby.

That is your basic Preston Hollow floor-plan.

That is why 6615 Meadow is worth not just a second look, but a third. And a fourth or fifth.

The French transitional is on a DOUBLE LOT: 200 feet wide by 150 feet deep. Me thinks the lot was picked up sometime AFTER the house was built, so you get a whopping 30,000 square feet of dirt to enjoy: that’s more than two-thirds of an acre (43,560 square feet). The home was built in 1999, but doesn’t show her age up or down.

The kitchen, breakfast and family room are open sesame to the rest of the house, expanded by a large bar, wine room, and a butler’s pantry. The master is downstairs with a knock out master bath. And the materials are stunning: slate foyer, deep, rich hand-scraped hardwoods, beautiful (not overdone) moldings, even the kitchen cabinets have been updated away from the white-washed wood craze to a gray hue. There are four bedrooms, all with ensuite baths, upstairs where you also find a game room with additional sitting area. There are two powder rooms and a three-car garage. There is also a bonus room DCAD doesn’t know about — let’s not tell them!

The agent, CC Allen at Dave Perry-Miller, tells me the house has been pre-inspected and is move in ready. Which is kind of exciting because it’s about to get cool, and that extra 100 feet of yard space is just the right size for a game of touch football. Maybe even Rugby!

Asking price is $2,475,000. Come to think of it, having that extra lot next door is like having money in the bank: you could always sell it! Or build a home for another family member. So many options! That is something the good folks at Inwood National Bank & Mortgage are going to love as they bend over sideways to give you the best mortgage financing customer service… you have ever seen!Meadow-patio-1024x768 Meadow-pool-1024x768 Meadow-grounds-1024x768
