On September 20, supporters of Texas Discovery Gardens gathered to applaud the 2018 Flora Award honorees Allie Beth and Pierce Allman at the Highland Park home of Stephen Jones (son of Jerry Jones), and his wife Karen, whose house is listed with Allie Beth Allman & Associates.

Among the crowd were Allie Beth Allman agents Doris Jacobs and Lillie Young, 2017 Flora honorees Marilyn Waisanen, Janet Smith and Bettye Slaven, Texas Discovery Gardens Chairman of the Board Michael Bosco, and the 2018 Flora co-chairs Kelly Cantu Dees and Laura Chancellor Black.

Guests all enjoyed hors d’oeuvers, cocktails and ambiance by Sugar City Celebrations and showed an appreciation Texas Discovery Garden’s mission to ‘sustain the natural world.’ Executive Director, Dick Davis shared that the Flora Award gala and all Texas Discovery Gardens fundraising efforts furthered their projects, including the debut of the new Natural Playscape for kids and monarch tagging station which are, among other features, open throughout the 2018 State Fair of Texas.

All past living Flora honorees have been invited to attend for special recognition at the black tie-dinner. Past Flora honorees include Peggy and Carl Sewell, Senator Kay Baily Hutchison, Dee and Charles Wyly, Lady Bird Johnson, Laura and President George W. Bush, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Margaret and Trammell Crow. All who would like to support the Allman’s and Texas Discovery Garden’s efforts, including citywide gardens, education on preserving the natural world, and their two-story butterfly house, can reserve a seat at the October 25 Flora Award Gala benefiting Texas Discovery Gardens.
