Downtown Dallas is bustling with holiday cheer, and if you’ve got a luxury condo on your wish list, it’s time to hop in the sleigh.

Great listings abound in the downtown area, including a three-bedroom, three-bath penthouse condo at 511 N. Akard St., Apartment 1502.

Special features include a rooftop terrace, a private elevator, African mahogany wood floors, a spiral staircase, granite countertops, and a Japanese soaking tub.

The 1,284-square-foot home is listed for $635,000.

Holiday Safety in Downtown Dallas

While there’s no shortage of downtown real estate on the market, our friends at Downtown Dallas Inc. remind us that it’s also an important time to be aware of the surroundings and make sure vehicles and homes are locked and expensive gifts are hidden.

Nobody wants to steal Uncle Charlie’s fruit cake, you say. The problem, according to Dallas police, is that thieves don’t know that it’s just a fruitcake in that fancy box. And they’ll break into your car to find out.

“Not everyone considers the holidays a time to celebrate, but rather an opportunity to commit a crime,” DPD officials said in a holiday safety tip sheet. “Unfortunately, the holiday season provides criminals many opportunities to spoil holiday cheer.”

More than 300 “major crimes” were reported within the area defined by DDI as its Central Business District during September. Using the same list of major crimes, 32 incidents were reported during the same period in downtown Fort Worth.

DDI Chief of External Affairs and Public Relations Scott Goldstein told daltxrealestate.com that downtown shoppers, residents, and business owners are encouraged to contact DDI through the See Say app to report non-emergency quality-of-life concerns between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.

“Our Downtown Dallas, Inc. Security, Clean Team, Homeless Outreach, and Ambassadors will be out throughout the holidays taking care of our streets, sidewalks, parks and public spaces, and the many people expected to visit Downtown,” Goldstein said.

While downtown checking out the amazing homes, be sure to catch a tree-lighting event or take the kids for photos with Santa.

Downtown Dallas Inc. is hosting numerous events this holiday season, most of which are free and open to the public.
