Discover Scandinavian Modern Design in This Iconic Lake Lewisville Home

Hygge is the Danish word for comfort. Lagom is the Scandinavian word for balance. We need a new word to describe this Scandinavian modern home that’s warm yet uber dramatic.

Raul Ruiz of Allie Beth Allman and Associates has this stunning 4,140-square-foot home with three bedrooms and three baths listed for $1.348 million. It’s located in the Bluffs at Pinnell Pointe, an idyllic slice of highland in Corinth, located on Lake Lewisville near Highland Village. Just a point of reference: If you’ve ever driven north on 35E over Lake Lewisville, look left toward the sandy shores and large estates nestled in the bluffs, and just beyond the trees, that’s where you’ll find this neighborhood of custom estates.

This striking home was designed and built by Texas architect Juan Carlos Arias as his own home. While much of Arias’s portfolio includes state-of-the-art corporate headquarters and design-centric office buildings both in Dallas-Fort Worth and around the world, his residential designs reflect this neutral-and-natural wood trait of Scandinavian modern design.

Ruiz admits he’s partial to this design as his home, too, is Scandinavian modern.

“There’s a difference between Modern and Scandinavian Modern homes,” he says. “Modern can feel cold at times, while Scandinavian Modern aims for warmth. What I like about this home is that it balances personality with clean lines. It’s modern, but not uncomfortably modern.”

Comfortable modernity is evident on the facade with white stucco that’s accented by custom Brazilian Camaru wood panels. Plus, sharp roof lines serve as a relief outline for the classic Scandinavian design. Clean, simple, gorgeous.

Step inside to find 25-foot ceilings above the great room and a wall of towering windows that look out over the bluff. The contrast of the soft floors and dramatic fireplace wall shows that perfect balance of the two.

“This home does light right without even trying,” Ruiz says. “The double height ceilings and windows in the great room makes it look so much bigger. It’s all clean and modern.”

Because the architect Arias built the home for himself, he used absolutely the best materials.

“He really put the best into this home,” Ruiz says.

That means flawless museum-finished walls, Italian marble, 9-inch-wide white oak flooring, and a premium metal roof. The kitchen features stainless steel professional-grade Bosch appliances that shine against the warm cabinets and cool, sleek countertops bathed in natural light.

The floor plan here is great, too. The lower level has a three car garage, and a concrete-walled home theater that doubles as a tornado shelter. The main level includes that double-height great room, kitchen and a spacious primary bedroom suite. The upper level boasts expansive lake views and has two bedrooms that share a luxurious and spacious bathroom and the oversized office that may be converted to an optional additional bedroom and bathroom. (The plumbing is already there behind the walls.)

Actually, the 4,140 square feet feel spacious yet comfortable, owing to the effortless flow of each floor with 12-foot ceilings and 9-foot doors.

Then, there’s the view. Because this property is built on a bluff of Lake Lewisville, a homeowner can enjoy panoramic lakeside views in nearly every room or from one of the six balconies.

Ruiz describes the neighborhood as luxurious and low-key. It’s secluded enough to feel innate privacy yet convenient to parks, excellent shopping, trendy restaurants, and major DFW transportation thoroughfares.

“It’s one of the most unique properties in the Metroplex,” Ruiz says. “And if you’re not a fan of clean modern lines and Scandinavian design, this home on Pinnell will make you a fan.”

Raul Ruiz of Allie Beth Allman and Associates has listed 2105 Pinnell Court in Corinth for $1.348 million. He’s hosting an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. March 5.
