On a Clear Day You Can Live Forever in this Windsor Park Lock and Leave

imagereaderThis home is one of those rare finds that makes you drop your fingernail file and pay attention.  A home that is so versatile it melds equally to the empty nester in search of a lock and leave property, or a young couple seeking a family home that is in the heart of everything — private schools, public schools, NorthPark Center, Texas Healthcare Resources, Central Expressway, The Dallas North Tollway, Preston Center… you get the drift.

Where is this neighborhood? Windsor Park, a cluster of homes off Park Lane, between Boedecker and Hillcrest, surrounding a peaceful lake. This is the same neighborhood where Mary Kay Ash lived the later years of her life, preferring this location to her pink Preston Hollow mansion.

The home is a one-story traditional of 4164 square feet that has been completely and stunningly remodeled as recently as 2008. The roof was raised up, offering an open floor plan, high ceilings, energy-efficient windows, beautiful hardwood floors, formals, a gourmet kitchen, split bedrooms and even a media room. Thanks to the elevation, there is even stand-up storage in the well-insulated attic with two access points. The home is sited on a one-half acre property (.41) with mature trees and has plenty of room for a swimming pool. But it’s also just pleasant enough to sit on the patio in the shade of the towering oaks, and just enjoy a quiet moment in the midst of Dallas most bustling neighborhood.

9108 Clearlake Drive is also on a corner, and sports a circular drive. You enter the large foyer with coved barrel ceiling; to your right is the formal dining room, your left a study or formal living room. Straight ahead is the kitchen: an abundance of high end, custom-made cabinets, top of the line gas stove, stainless appliances, TWO dishwashers (now you’re talking!) and oceans of granite counters. This is open to the Great Room, and a cozy morning/breakfast room with French doors out to the patio and gardens. Floors are gleaming hardwoods with parquet custom design in the center of the foyer. There is a bar with wine cooler off the morning room which, because of the long stretch of counter, could also be a coffee bar and a great place to serve a buffet. Off this area is the media and laundry rooms, the latter opens conveniently to the side yard offering a private escape hatch for dogs. Also here: the third or fourth bedroom and a bath, perfect to give guests a little privacy and quick access to the morning room.imagereader-16 imagereader-17 imagereader-18 imagereader-19 imagereader-22 imagereader-23

The home retains the classic flow of a Dallas ranch: two children’s bedrooms are off a short hallway with Jack & Jill bath in-between. There is also a separate formal powder room in the hall. The master bedroom is large at 15 by 19 feet, sports a dramatic raised ceiling, and overlooks the back yard. The spacious master spa bath features stone vessel sinks, jetted Kohler soaking tub, separate walk-in shower, all in stunning stone with limestone floors.

Now here is what is very interesting: a fourth bedroom connects to the master bath, and is in current use as a huge closet — I want to say this room is about 14 by 13 feet. It could also be a nursery, exercise room or office because the master has an additional closet  for clothing. When I saw this closet room, I was so envious: I think every master needs this. What a great place to stash luggage, a piece of furniture, baby items for the grands, or future toys. This kind of storage space at your fingertips is also so handy and precludes a schlep up stairs or to the attic with bulky items.

Come to think of it, you could even store a fully decorated Christmas tree in here! We need this room!

It already has a French door window and closet.

The original home was built in 1968, but remodeled so extensively in 2008 it is practically brand new. The two-car garage opens to the side street or rear alley. The area is extremely quiet, private and secure thanks to a private police patrol. One of the best kept secrets in Dallas, Windsor Park got it all right: location, location, location. Asking $1,095,000 and marketed by Susan Bradley of Allie Beth Allman & Associates.

This property will be open Sunday, April 12, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
