Christopher McGuire Heads to Compass After 17 Years With Briggs Freeman

After more than 17 years at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, Christopher McGuire has moved to Compass Real Estate. He began the new role on his 13th wedding anniversary.

“I felt that Compass, with their philosophy and tools, gave me the best opportunity to provide better value for my clients,” McGuire said.  “It will also give my clients better tools so that we can collaborate more efficiently.”

The decision was not an easy one for McGuire. His parents, Jackie and Cory McGuire, work at Briggs Freeman and helped him begin his real estate career there back in 2001. They weren’t initially thrilled with his decision, but ultimately understood his reasoning.

Christopher McGuire also counts Robbie Briggs and the late Charles Freeman among his personal friends. He said that before making the move, he conducted extensive research and consulted with numerous friends and colleagues. He also considered where he sees the real estate industry heading in the next three to five years, and who will best positioned to succeed in the rapidly changing business environment. Ultimately, he felt that Compass was the right place for him.

“Today’s client has more information now than they’ve ever had before,” McGuire said. “As Realtors, we need to make sure we can still provide value to help them on their journey and to help them make the best decisions possible.”

McGuire considers his experience one of his greatest assets. He recalls starting his career around the time of the September 11 attacks, and later working through market downturns. Experiences like these give him a good perspective on how to handle future challenges that are sure arise.

He continues to love real estate because he gets to help families find homes in which they will hopefully make many happy memories for years to come.

“I enjoy the human aspect of engaging people and genuinely trying to help them,” McGuire said. “I tell my clients that we are in this together. Let’s figure out how to do this the best way possible.”
