The Dallas Architecture Forum‘s lecture season will continue on Thursday, Jan. 26th at 7 p.m., in the Horchow Auditorium at the Dallas Museum of Art. Alex Krieger, principal in the architecture firm NBBJ and professor in the Harvard Graduate School of Design, will speak to begin the evening. Krieger and his team produced the community development plan for the Dallas Arts District, which acts as the new framework for the 17 blocks between Uptown and Downtown.

“Alex Krieger is one of the world’s leading urban planners, and he is an internationally sought-after consultant by officials of major cities, says Nate Eudaly, executive director of the Dallas Architecture Forum, “He also was appointed by President Barak Obama to the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts as a tribute to his respected insights.”

After his lecture, Krieger and Peer Chacko, chief planning officer for the City of Dallas, will review the updated plan in a discussion moderated by Jerome Weeks, senior arts producer-reporter with KERA’s Art&Seek. Along with the new plan for the Dallas Arts District, the broader context of the discussion will include other emerging creative centers across Dallas, along with evolving attitudes in American culture towards cities and urbanism.

“His updates to the plan for the Arts District will create a more engaging environment in which to enjoy the arts and expanded cultural opportunities for all of our city’s residents,” Eudaly said. “Along with Peer Chacko and Jerome Weeks, this should be a program of great interest to the Dallas community.”

Admission is free for Dallas Architecture Forum, KERA, and DMA members. General Admission is $5. Tickets can be purchased at the door before the lecture. No reservations are needed to attend.
