Joseph Pytcher understands the importance of building a strong foundation — figuratively and literally. The full-service custom homebuilder takes pride in being able to offer clients an all-inclusive, highly-personalized experience.

“We’re 100 percent hands-on, start to finish,” says the builder. “Because we’re smaller, we’re able to work one-on-one with our homeowners throughout the entire process. That doesn’t always happen with larger-scale builders.”

As founder and owner of his eponymous company, Pytcher takes that commitment seriously. In addition to construction, his skill set includes finance, valuations and real estate analysis, architecture, and design.

“I always knew I wanted to run my own business. My background, in its entirety, keeps me ahead of the curve,” he says.

He doesn’t limit himself to a specific style. “We do it all, from ultramodern to traditional, farm house to contemporary. Our job is helping people envision a home that will perfectly meet their needs and lifestyle.”

A transitional spec in Briarwood (now sold) reflects the builder’s streamlined aesthetic. Noteworthy features include a 16-foot folding door with retractable screens and white oak flooring.

The neutral color palette is both subtle and striking.

A see-through stone fireplace seamlessly connects the grand room with the dining and outdoor living areas. The chef’s kitchen features a Wolf/Sub Zero appliance package with separate ice machine.

Pytcher and his team also gravitate towards unexpected design touches, like the tongue-and-groove oak ceiling in the foyer or the uber-cool iron stairway landing. Office bookshelves sport a hidden door for extra storage space. Homes are smart-wired for speakers and security.

Another former spec sits on the fourth hole of the Lakewood Country Club. Ideal for entertaining, the modern East Dallas stunner features a large kitchen with Thermador appliances and a patio with golf course views.

“The selling price broke the record for the neighborhood,” he says.

Pytcher is also accomplished in renovating homes. Earlier projects include re-building several Lake Highlands properties from the studs.

“With any renovation, we believe in spending the time and money necessary to make them truly exceptional,” he says.

“There are no short-cuts. Do everything with integrity. It’s something I learned in the military.”

As Pytcher’s projects got bigger and more expensive, so did his aspirations. Transitioning into custom homes was a natural next step.

“What I love most about my work is seeing a house take shape after so much hard work,” he says. “It’s gratifying to watch it come together. You’re putting a lasting legacy of yourself into every home.”

Describe yourself in 3 words: “Honest. Humble. Ambitious.”

Best advice: “Everything is in the attention to detail. People notice.”

I relax by: Fly fishing.

Guilty pleasure: Wing Stop.

Dream house: A traditional style home with a modern feel. And I’d love to build it on a large piece of land.

Very few people know: My grandfather was also in the building business. On the commercial side, he owned a building in downtown Dallas and was an investor in the land that was sold to the developers that built Valley View mall. In addition to building a few homes in Lakewood and Preston Hollow, he was also a partner with one of the first residential developers in Lewisville.
