A Sophisticated Turtle Creek Contemporary

We’ve written about this Turtle Creek contemporary before, but whoa, has it been transformed. It’s always exciting when one of the Park Bridge Court homes hits the market because there are so few, and they are all exquisite.

Park Bridge Court was developed in the late 1970s and quickly became an enclave of cutting-edge architecture. Bud Oglesby, Jonathan Bailey, and Frank Welch designs are nestled into this extremely private neighborhood of only 14 homes.

If you’re giving directions to get here, just say it’s across the street from The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. Otherwise, you are bound to miss it on the first attempt. Access is over a private bridge, and there’s a community gate to the Katy Trail, which is essentially your backyard.

This before image from 2017 offers a great look at the updates that include the creation of the glass wine room and the addition of steel doors as well as some incredible lighting.

Ken Burgess originally designed this Turtle Creek contemporary in 1987 for Walter Culp. Burgess created open-plan public rooms that all overlook the pool or the water wall, delivering on Culp’s desire for an arresting entertainment space.

Dramatic, indeed.

An open, three-story staircase now allows light to play even further throughout the house. This residence was pushing the envelope when it was constructed. However, it needed to be brought into this decade like any home from that era.

In 2019, the current owner began an extensive updating plan that appears to have touched every surface, from floors to lighting to windows. It was all done with elegance, simplicity, and incredible style, in my opinion. I’ve included a few before shots from our 2017 story to showcase how dramatic changes can also be extremely logical.

I know! This transformation took my breath away, too!

I’d live in the library, and I’d spend so much time cooking in the kitchen that you’d never get me to a restaurant.

They are gorgeous rooms. And now, you can now benefit from all the hard work because this 4,300-square-foot Turtle Creek Contemporary is on the market.

There are two en-suite bedrooms on the first level and a bonus room or extra living area. The second level features the dramatic living and dining areas, the bold library, and that gorgeous kitchen.

Every room here has a spectacular view.

The third-floor principal suite received quite the makeover as well. Don’t blanch because it’s on the third floor. You know there’s an elevator!

There is also a guest quarters that is perfect for visiting college kids, or it would make a terrific nanny suite.

I think Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s listing agent Judy Sessions loves this $4.9 million home at 2814 Park Bridge Court as much as I do. When I rang her up, she said, “Karen, It’s a WOW! An updated and redesigned Turtle Creek contemporary stunner with amazing light and views in an incredible location.”

All this and cocktails at the Mansion are only a five-minute walk away. What are you waiting for?
