Dallas Builders Association’s ARC Awards: Part 2, Saving The Best For Last

ARC-Logo-2-1

Previously, I wrote about the winners of the Dallas Builders Association’s annual ARC awards in the kitchen categories.  Now that we’ve had a little nosh, let’s see the winners in the rest of the house. Missed part 1?  Click here!

While there were nine categories dedicated to kitchens, bathrooms didn’t fare so generously with just four categories.  But no fear, that leaves us some space to highlight other winners!

Kasper-Custom-Remodeling-Bath-1
Award-winning $35,000 – $50,000 Bathroom from Kasper Custom Remodeling

  • Best Bathroom Remodel Under $35,000
    • Earl Williams & Associates (Welwyn Bath project)
  • Best Bathroom Remodel $35,000 – $50,000
    • Kasper Custom Remodeling (West Highland Bathroom project)
Best-Bath-50-75-USI-SM
USI Design & Remodeling’s Best Bath Remodel $50,000 – $75,000 Winner
  • Best Bathroom Remodel $50,000 – $75,000
    • USI Design & Remodeling (Cedar Falls project)
  • Best Bathroom Remodel Over $75,000
    • Kasper Custom Remodeling (Westgate Master Bath project)
Best-Concept-SM
Best Conceptual Design, Greico Modern Homes

One category I always enjoy is the Best Conceptual Design because it’s the promise of a great building not yet realized.  This year the winner was Greico Modern Homes’ concept called The Urban Estate. As an ex-Chicagoan there I see many Frank Lloyd Wright cues in this design in the long, low rooflines.

Jetsetter-Exterior-Draw-1
Bauhaus Custom Homes’ Greenway Park “Jetsetter” project

In the Best Overall Interior Design Over $1 Million category, it was between Thomas Signature Homes’ 6315 Stefani and Bauhaus Custom Homes’ Jetsetter.  With my more modernist bent, I rooted for the Jetsetter and it won.  This category highlighted the “war” being waged in the Dallas custom home market between traditional and modern homes. I liked the Jetsetter so much (as so did the judges), I’m going writing a feature on the home from Bauhaus, a daltxrealestate.com Approved Builder (stay tuned).

Best-Other-Bowling-Alley
How cool! I just want an invitation!

Best Unique “Other” Room is a fun category for projects that don’t fall in the mainstream of kitchens, baths, bedrooms and the like.  This year’s finalists included an indoor basketball court and a two-lane bowling alley both from Westchester Homes – not for the same client.  I’ll take the bowling alley, please!

I’ve saved the top awards for last … like every other awards “show.”

Thomas-Development-Durango-1

  • Best New Home Under $1 Million
    • Thomas Development & Construction (Durango project)
  • Best New Home $1 million – $2 million
    • Bauhaus Custom Homes (The Jetsetter project)
6315-Stefani-Exterior-SM
6315 Stefani, the house the ruled the night
  • Best New Home Over $2 million
    • Thomas Signature Homes (6315 Stefani project)
  • Associate of the Year (what I’d call a sub-contractor)
    • Greg Paschall, Intex Electrical Contractors

Elite-Remodelers-Kitchen-1
A taste of ARC’s 2016 Remodeler of the Year, Elite Remodeling
  • Remodeler of the Year
    • Elite Remodeling
Classic-Urban-Exterior-SM
A similar taste of Custom Builder of the Year, Classic Urban Homes
  • Custom Builder of the Year
    • Classic Urban Homes

That wraps up this year.  I’ll keep my fancy duds pressed for next year’s roundup of the best builders’ best projects for 2017.  See you there!

Remember:  High-rises, HOAs and renovation are my beat. But I also appreciate modern and historical architecture balanced against the YIMBY movement.  If you’re interested in hosting a Candysdirt.com Staff Meeting event, I’m your guy. In 2016, my writing was recognized with Bronze and Silver awards from the National Association of Real Estate Editors.  Have a story to tell or a marriage proposal to make?  Shoot me an email [email protected].
