All you need is sand outside the back door and you’ll feel like you’re living on the beach in this Santa Barbara modern at 6130 Stefani Drive.

The five-bedroom, five-full-and-three-half-bath home is the result of a powerhouse of talents. Architectural firm Stocker Hoesterey Montenegro, Faulkner Perrin Custom Homes, designers Jane Waggoner and Dana Card, and of course, listing agent Jonathan Rosen with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International, worked together to bring this $2.795 million beauty to life.

Rosen has an exclusive listing agreement with Faulkner Perrin and has been working with them for several years. “I’m there from the original design meeting until we sell the home,” Rosen said. We’re always pushing the limit a bit because the days of building a house with no details and no designer feel has gone by the wayside at this price point. People expect more.”

“Faulkner and Perrin take the lead from the architect’s and designer’s point of view and are willing to put themselves out there,” Rosen said. “We love the floorplans David Stocker provides and the way he uses light.”

Modern homes can feel cold and austere, but this team manages to pull off a very warm and relaxed feeling in the 6,535-square-foot house while still providing high style. From the moment you enter the home and see the great room with that stunning dual sided Calcite Azul marble fireplace that looks like waves crashing on the shore, you know you’re in for something special. Light floods through 10-foot-high, floor-to-ceiling windows and doors. Pocket doors have been used to ensure the flow is not diminished, yet there is still an option for privacy.

Design elements are not only stylish but inventive. The ceiling in one study features Apex blue geometric wallpaper by Cole & Son— just the right unexpected touch.

The wine room holds 400 bottles and is constructed of metal, wood and lucite.

One of the ways that warm, inviting look has been captured is with the blue butcher block kitchen island and hand-painted backsplash tile. “The contrast between the blue to the butcher block is such a nice feel,” Rosen said.

The master suite has 12-foot ceilings and his-and-hers walk-in closets. The bathroom is a coastal dream wrapped in blue and white wallpaper with a frosted glass water closet mirrored by a clear glass shower. A Victoria + Albert freestanding tub holds pride of place in the center of the room.

Retractable screens surround the outdoor entertaining area. “You can completely enclose the entire patio,” Rosen said. “It also holds in about 70 percent of the temperature. You can light the fire and it will hold in the heat, or you can open the doors to the interior of the home and it will hold the air conditioning.” This is basically a climate controlled outdoor living space.

One of the novel things the team did was create a Pinterest board. “We started doing collages of the finishes to give buyers a better feel for what the house would look like, then started a Pinterest board on another project and it’s just turned into something fantastic,” Rosen said. “We are doing these on all of our new construction. It really gives people an insight into every single detail.”
