Two years ago, StreetLights Residential promised the third phase of its development called The Margo would be available to renters in early 2021, and the Dallas-based apartment builder delivered.

The Margo opened the third phase of StreetLights’ apartment community at The Canals at Grand Park, which includes 358 units ranging from studios to townhomes.

The development is west of the Dallas North Tollway and adjacent to the 275-acre Grand Park at 4545 Mission Ave. in northern Frisco. The Margo’s 358 units range from 507 to 2,094 square feet and rent starts at $1,370 a month.

Peruse the amenities and one, in particular, can catch the eye – the smart cooktop island, which is available in certain units. The seamless cool-to-the-touch glass island has four induction safety cooking stations, two warming stations, and – get this – integrated wireless phone chargers. According to the video below, you can even use the surface as an ironing board.

Some units at The Margo have a smart cooktop island.

StreetLights calls the smart cooktop the first of its kind in any multifamily community throughout the U.S. It’s also available in StreetLight Arlington development, The Jackson in Arlington.

“We’re thrilled to complete the third phase of The Canals at Grand Park and continuing to expand our presence in Frisco,” StreetLights Vice President of Development Greg Coutant said in a news release.

“The Margo is a perfect example of our mission – designing beautiful homes that combine simple elegance with the convenience of a vibrant, growing neighborhood.”

Frisco, as we all know, is a hotbed for apartment development. The suburb led the nation in most new apartments built in the past five years, according to RentCafé.

StreetLights also developed The Canals with phases one and two, and the already-completed The Kathryn and The Maxwell. StreetLights Creative Studio was the architect while Ink + Oro designed the leasing and amenity spaces. Gables Residential is the property manager.

The Margo complex also includes:

  • An oversized pool with lounge seating, cabanas, and a sun deck
  • An outdoor kitchen and media lounge
  • Electric vehicle charging stations
  • Co-working spaces
  • Private dining and library
  • Creative space and potting shed
  • A pet lawn, a spa, and a bike repair and storage station.

The Canal apartment community is near downtown Frisco and residents have numerous shopping and dining options south on the Tollway at the Star District and Legacy West in Plano.
