Thursday afternoon, from 3 to 5 p.m., the family of Leslie Baker opened their front yard to welcome and thank neighbors for granting them privacy during the past few days as they came to grips with her sudden, violent death.

Police have arrested a 16-year old suspect in connection with Leslie Baker’s murder.

But the community is not assured. I live a few blocks from the Baker home, and everyone I know is walking in pairs and concerned that someone could be so viciously gunned down in such a peaceful, restful neighborhood.

To that end, Dallas City Councilman Lee Kleinman, in whose District the murder took place, and District 13 Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates will hold a call-in update on the crime with the Dallas Police department:

Dear Constituents,

Please join Council Member Kleinman and Council Member Gates for a Conference Call about the tragic loss of Leslie Squair Baker. The Dallas Police Department will provide an update about the crime in the neighborhood. This call is scheduled for Friday, June 5th at 1pm.
