Find yourself single at the moment? Here’s some news you can use. A new study for ApartmentList.com ranks Dallas … just okay for dating.

A survey of more than 11,000 single renters across the United States reveals that Dallas ranks No. 43 out of 86 metro areas — right smack dab in the middle — when it comes to dating satisfaction. Not great. Not terrible.

When asked, “How would you rate your current city or neighborhood for opportunities to date?” only 25.83 percent of Dallas singles reported overall satisfaction. Yeesh. But before you book a ticket and pack your carry-on, let’s explore the metro areas reporting the most dating satisfaction.

Dating in Happy Valley

Provo, Utah, ranks No. 1 in dating satisfaction. And, uh, all I have to add to that is, “If you’re Mormon.”

Provo, home to Brigham Young University, comprises a disproportionately high population of young Mormons. A quick google search tells me it was almost 85 percent in 2016. I know a bit about dating in Provo. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, I was one of those heady youngsters. And I can tell you, yes, dating in Provo amounts to a part-time job or a really serious hobby. But social and religious programming place a huge emphasis on getting hitched, so it’s hardly representative of what your average, non-Mormon dater would experience. I say we move on. NEXT!

A Richer, Varied Dating Pool

In second place, 44.2 percent of Richmond, Virginia, singles reported dating satisfaction. Good for them! With great restaurants, a booming music scene, hip restaurants, easily accessible natural beauty, Richmond daters stay busy and happy. Two universities, Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond, make their home in Richmond, too. So, the dating pool teems with life and potential.

The bronze medal for romantic happiness goes to … Raleigh, North Carolina. This year, 42 percent of single renters reported being satisfied with dating opportunities in Raleigh. Crazy thing is, Raleigh fell into 28th place last year. What boosted Raleigh to the No. 3 spot?

“With its robust tech scene, Raleigh is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. The influx of young professionals entering the area every year mixed with the 22,000 students attending local North Carolina State University is likely one of the reasons for the increase in dating satisfaction.”

Die Alone in North Port, Florida

Interestingly, North Port, Florida came in last place, so now you know where not to go. And in the biggest not news yet, men tended to view their romantic experiences more rosily than women. On average, 31 percent of men rated themselves satisfied, compared to 22 percent percent of women. Color me shocked.
