71a590facbaf3b08b30dbb30587353e2l-m5xd-w1020_h770_q80Robert Belcher was a bachelor when he snagged his light, airy, and well-appointed Travis Street condo a few years back — but things have changed, and now he’s parting with it because something even bigger happened: He fell in love with Rebecca.

Robert and Rebecca met on New Year’s Eve and fell in love, and now his Uptown condo is listed (photo courtesy Robert Belcher).

“It’s just time switch things up,” he said. “I have a wonderful girl down in Austin that I’m very in love with.”

Although the two have mutual friends, it was a New Year’s Eve meeting in Tulum, Mexico, that initially connected them.

“Yeah we’ve just really hit it off,” Belcher said. “Everything’s sweeter with a little risk, so I guess I’ll just take one and move down to Austin.”

But that’s not to say that he’s not going to miss his condo, nestled at the back of a small development but within walking distance to all kinds of uptown amenities.

“I’ll tell you I’m a little bittersweet about it — I’ve lived here in Dallas for 13 years,” he said. “I was born and raised in Fort Worth, so I’m a DFW kid, with the exception of about six or seven years when I was away for college and in Colorado right after.”

The location of this 2,248 square foot, two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath condo was one of the big selling points for Belcher, but the floorplan was an even bigger one.

“Well I’ll tell you why I originally liked the property to begin with — one of my friends actually lived in a unit that was in the same development and it had the exact same layout,” he said. “I loved the open feeling on the second floor, and it was, you know, large, and you can entertain there, and I do like to entertain at times.”

“And then the natural light in the place —  the windows are large — that’s really what drew me to it, the modern architecture,” I kind of have an interior design background, but in commercial interiors.”

The guest room is on its own floor, making it feel ultra-private as well, he said. He also appreciated the dedicated office space off the master bedroom.

“One of my favorite things is the office overhang,” he said. “I wanted to have a home office that was nice because I do work from home. And it’s just right on the other side of my closet.”

“I walk through my closet to get to my office.”

And despite being so close to the Katy Trail, and within walking distance of some great nightlife, Belcher said the setting is pretty quiet.

“It’s perfect for somebody that wants to be central and live in a nice, airy, quiet place,” he said. “I mean I’m all the way at the back of the development and it’s quiet — I’m really the last person back there.”

The condo at 4030 Travis Street is full of great upgrades, too, including recently replaced carpet and tile, a custom shade system, a freshly painted deck, and LED lights throughout.

A spacious, open kitchen has been upgraded with a new sink, countertops, and a new backsplash.

Both bathrooms are spa-like, and have custom lighting as well, and both the master and guest bedrooms are generously sized.

Outdoor entertaining is also an option, with two patios.

The home is listed for $595,000 by Rachel Norris with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate-Preston Center. Want to check it out? More photos are here, and there is an open house today, March 24, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
