Readers of Daltxrealestate.com know a classic when they see one, and this stunning, time-honored design from architect Larry E. Boerder is definitely a classic. In fact, after much debate amongst our staff, we’re calling this Highland Park red brick beauty at 3821 Shenandoah a Classic Revival, but if you have an opinion, be sure to share it with us in the comments.

What isn’t up for debate is that this home is the picture of style and grace, easily making this Highland Park Classic Revival our High Caliber Home of the Week presented by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans. It’s a private listing from Ralph Randall and Kyle Baugh of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty that speaks to refined tastes and would look incredible done up for the holidays.

The home is flush with beautiful details that are impossible to ignore. The foyer features perfect mouldings and millwork framing a sweeping staircase. Arched doorways offer elegance, while warm hardwood floors add contrast to the modern, neutral color palette. It’s just a taste of the incredible traditional design elements that you’ll find in every room of this Highland Park Classic Revival.

The home is not only perfectly sited on a large lot, but it is built with the finest materials and with a thoughtful floor plan. Built in 1999, the home has five bedrooms, five full and two half baths, five fireplaces, four living areas, two dining areas, and a gorgeous backyard complete with pool, loggia, patio with pergola, and beautiful grassy lawn.

“It’s a large, spacious lot at 100 feet by 180 feet,” says Randall, who is marketing this beauty for $4.995 million. “The modern kitchen was remodeled in October of 2018, and there’s exquisite craftmanship throughout. This home was built to last.”

Walking through the home, you can see why Larry E. Boerder is the go-to architect for classic, traditional design that is perfect for entertaining groups of any size, from intimate dinner parties to wild receptions, this Highland Park Classic Revival can do it all.

“It has a center hall plan for entertaining, with three living areas on the first floor,” Randall said. There are guest quarters, too, just in case you have a few stragglers that stay overnight.

To me, the formal dining room really stands out. It’s traditional, but with modern elements that offer the kind of charm that’s inescapably classic.

“The formal dining room is exquisitely appointed with de Gournay wall covering,” Randall pointed out. There’s Martin Bros. paint in the foyer, formals, and recent paint and counter surfaces to the kitchen. “The butler’s pantry was remodeled, too.”

The color palette is neutral but not sterile, and definitely makes this Highland Park Classic Revival feel modern and airy.

The home has oodles of built-in cabinetry throughout, with classic chandeliers and light fixtures featuring prominently in the design.

The chef’s kitchen has a brand new coat of paint, plenty of cabinetry, a butler’s pantry, and a huge eat-in center island. There’s plenty of creative storage, including a spice niche right next to the commercial-grade range.

Light streams into the formal living room through the wall of French doors. The loggia, framed by brick archways, has its own wood-burning fireplace.

All of the bedrooms in this Highland Park Classic Revival are located on the second and third floors of the 7,748-square-foot floor plan.

The master bedroom and bath also benefited from a refresh, Randall noted. It’s still a total classic, with beautiful windows and a dedicated sitting area. The fireplace seals the deal on this retreat, which is located on the second floor. The master bathroom is a complete stunner, with fresh paint and perfect appointments. The jacuzzi tub, full-sized shower, dual vanities, and enormous walk-in closets should seal the deal.

And when the weather is good, as it tends to be during about 8 months of the year, you’ll likely be enjoying the generous outdoor spaces, which were built with the exact same attention to detail that you’ll find throughout 3821 Shenandoah. Obviously, this home is located inside Highland Park ISD, which has outstanding schools and a very tight-knit community. If you are looking to up the ante on your social involvement, this is the house to make that happen, as you’ll definitely have the space to host parties, gatherings, committees, and even the occasional home tour — just let us know when you do!

“This home was built to last at least 250 years — excellent solid construction,” Randall said. “Built with no expense spared.”

And that makes this private offering from Randall and Baugh of the Jobst Randall Group at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty a classic in every way.
