More Companies Are Making The Fight Against High Property Taxes Easier With These Tools

There are many positive aspects of being a homeowner in Texas. Unfortunately, there are some downsides — namely property taxes. And lucky for Texans, there’s still time to protest your property tax appraisal.

Ranked 45th highest out of 50 states, Texans can expect an average annual tax bill of about $3,907. And while property values continue their steady annual incline, rising an average of about 6.9 percent in the last year, we can only expect tax bills to increase in tandem.

While the Dallas County Appraisal District has extended the deadline to protest property tax appraisals to May 22, most other appraisal districts will still require protests by May 15. For some, the battle to appeal their appraisal will be arduous and involve lawyers, hearings, and headaches. But for others, protesting property tax could be much simpler.

Automating The Fight Against High Property Taxes

Thankfully, someone had the good sense to gather the resources, experts, and technology to help us tackle property tax protesting.

Ownwell is a Texas-born company on a mission to equip homeowners with the tools and resources needed to manage real estate with confidence. They believe millions of homeowners are overpaying on property tax and they’re looking to make things right.

Ownwell’s CEO Colton Pace sat down with daltxrealestate.com to discuss his model and explain how he’s keeping property tax assessors honest in 2023.

“We started Ownwell two years ago with the objective of democratizing access to real estate expertise,” said Pace. “We manage the end-to-end process of the property tax appeal and property tax protest.”

Essentially Ownwell is a one-source service for both monitoring and reducing property tax liability. They’ve pooled a team of experts and assembled software to work with assessors in reducing tax.

Especially with something as cumbersome as property tax appraisals, services like this allow homeowners to have confidence that they are not forfeiting hundreds of thousands of dollars over their lifetimes.

“We’re able to monitor appeal results for all of our competitors across all counties,” said Pace. “This allows us to know we are getting the best results for our clients.”

Locally, PropertyTax.io is doing the same thing.

Servicing Collin, Dallas, Denton, Harris, Rockwall, and Tarrant counties, PropertyTax.io is a perfect solution tailored for North Texans. Their online platform allows users to sign up in minutes to offload the hassles of property tax protesting.

Glenn Goodrich, CEO of PropertyTax.io, also sat down with us to talk about how his organization is fighting for North Texans.

“We make it super easy for homeowners to protest property tax,” said Goodrich. “By handling everything for them through each step in the process, we provide a transparent, comprehensive service with a local perspective.”

Propertytax.io is also committed to keeping its customers happy.

“I’d say our biggest differentiator,” said Goodrich. “Is our customer service. We offer a free analysis so any of our clients can view the data and determine what’s best for them. It’s our stance that the value we provide isn’t in the data but it’s in the actual service.”
