A Rare Unit in 3525 Turtle CreekA Place With History Built For Stars
3525 Turtle Creek Unit 19BC

Most buyers who choose high-rise living buy vertical for three reasons: they want zero maintenance, they love the views, and they desire the utmost security for the times they are at home and on the road.

What isn’t often uttered is the comfort factor — it’s quite real. Whether the comfort comes from the extra time not spent maintaining exterior walls and gardens, having a full-time, 24-hour-a-day valet at your disposal, or just the rest one gets when they are not in a constant maintenance flurry, high-rise living can add years to your life with extra rest and relaxation.

This particular high-rise unit at 3525 Turtle Creek, Unit 19BC, is the epitome of a city retreat home frosted with luxury. A rare three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath unit — seldom found in this historic building — 19BC reflects the timeless architectural skills of the building’s renowned architect, Howard Meyer, who designed the unique Brise Soleil as an ingenious architectural solution to ward off the hot Texas sun. Each panel is engineered to maximize views with privacy.

A Rare Unit in 3525 Turtle Creek

In this home, spaces are comfortable, ample, and drenched in natural sunlight that more than visually doubles the spaciousness of the 3,207 square foot unit.

“Imagine the luxury of coming home from a trip, exhausted, driving up to the valet, who grabs your luggage and takes it up to your home,” says listing agent Cathleen Witte. “It’s like walking into a permanent vacation home after your actual vacation.”

Even more than relaxation and generous space, 19BC offers two primary bedrooms, each equipped with en suite luxury bathrooms. A third full bath is available for bedroom three, which can be converted into an office, while a powder room is on standby for visitors. There is a separate living room, family room, huge bar one might mistake for a kitchen, a functional galley-style kitchen and dining room, and a large balcony — signature of the most classic high-rise in Dallas.

As if the size, layout, and amenities were not enough, 19BC has been fully renovated by interior designer Gail Dolby.

New additions include wide-plank walnut floors throughout, a gourmet kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, the aforementioned formals, a family room, a gourmet bar, and even a screened-in porch!

The home’s renovation brought a Lutron lighting and sound system, a stunning wall-mount faucet in the powder room, electric shades, and an AV closet. Speaking of closets, storage is over the top in this home.

Love cars? Got a collection? 19BC comes with four parking spaces plus two climate-controlled storage lockers on site, so no running boxes to an off-site location. Valet is 24/7 in a building known for unparalleled service with one of the highest ratios of staff to residents in Dallas.

A Place With History Built For Stars

The building at 3525 Turtle Creek also has a history. It has been the home of many a Dallas celebrity, politician/major player, from the late politico Carol Reed to actress Greer Garson, country singer and actor Jimmy Dean, and American Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Blanch Thebom.

Teen idol Fabian stayed in 3525 while performing in Dallas. Dynasty star Joan Collins, actor Van Johnson, renowned pianist Van Cliburn, and matinee idol Tyrone Power were among the notable guests in earlier years.

The building at 3525 Turtle Creek was also home to two U.S. Senators —William A. Blakey and John Tower — as well as U.S. Congressman and former Dallas mayor Earle Cabell. Mark Thatcher, son of U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher; Minnie Lichtenstein Marcus, widow of Neiman Marcus co-founder Herbert Marcus; oil magnate Clint Murchison Sr.; and lawyer Angus Wynne Sr. (his son founded Six Flag Over Texas) also lived at 3525 Turtle Creek.

It’s also one of the nation’s few Modernist high-rise buildings, and 3525 Turtle Creek is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places. When it opened, it was lauded as the “tallest, largest, and most luxurious apartment building ever erected west of the Mississippi” — a new concept for Dallas and the southwest.  Originally there were only five floor plans per floor, which have evolved to 93 distinct luxury residences with sweeping views of the glittering Turtle Creek corridor.  Though historical, the building offers all the amenities found in a brand new high-rise — pool, fitness room, meeting room, catering kitchen, and even rooms for guests.

This building at 3525 Turtle Creek is steeped in Dallas history and culture.

Unit 19BC at 3525 Turtle Creek is listed with Cathleen Witte of Allie Beth Allman & Associates for $1.475 million.
