4 Dallas-Fort Worth Suburban Homes with Eye-Catching Elevators

Sure, homes with residential elevators are common in the Park Cities area. But what about the suburbs of Dallas-Fort Worth?

As people move to larger multi-story homes in the suburbs, installing a residential elevator provides value in forward-looking investment and safety, especially if the home will be kept through retirement for aging-in-place.

According to RetirementLiving.com, the average home elevator installation can cost around $19,000 to $20,000, depending on the type of elevator and its purpose.

Several D-FW companies specialize in selling, installing and servicing residential elevators. They come in roped hydraulic drives, winding drum drives, pneumatic vacuum drives, counter-weight chain drives, or gearless drives.

The Case for Residential Elevators

Joe Williams, CEO and founder of Dallas’ Elevating Systems, has advocated elevator installations in homes for safety’s sake in 2014.

“Elevators are actually 20 times safer than escalators,” Williams told Daltxrealestate.com. “And people are putting them in their homes because so many accidents happen on stairs.”

RetirementLiving.com estimates installing a residential elevator also increases home values by 10 percent or more.

So, what’s the state of elevator installations in the suburbs? Here’s a quick look at four homes on the market that list elevators as a feature:

A decorative door fronts the elevator that starts near the breakfast nook.

Address: 11 N. Church St., McKinney

3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths
4,087 square feet
$974,900

This historic remodeled home near McKinney’s downtown square is a showpiece with its immaculate kitchen and four working fireplaces. A big selling point is a new three-person elevator with dual doors. The elevator’s main wooden door is finely crafted and fronts a breakfast nook. On the second floor, the elevator opens on one side to the master bedroom and the other side opens to the guest bedrooms.

Joci Miceli with Fathom Realty has listed 11 N. Church St. for $974,900.

Address: 4768 Byron Circle, Irving
5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths
7,473 square feet
$1,989,000

This three-story Mediterranean custom home is on the TPC Las Colinas golf course. It has the amenities and features one would expect. It has a custom staircase to all three floors. But why drag golf clubs and other baggage up the stairs. Take the elevator. It connects all three floors.

Nicole Andrews with Nicole Andrews Group has listed 4768 Byron Circle for $1,989,000.

4330-Bohham-elevator

Address: 6016 Pinnacle Circle, Little Elm
3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths
5,644 square feet
$1,700,000

Of all the features of this home, you have to consider access at the top of the list. It’s near Lake Lewisville with an outdoor barn large enough for boat storage. The interior has plenty of amenities, and they’re easily accessible with an elevator that stops at each floor, including the third floor, which includes a cedar-lined closet and attic space.

Erin Strain with JP & Associates Realtors Frisco has listed 6016 Pinnacle Circle for $1,700,000.

4330-Bohham-elevator

Address: 1712 Bison Meadow Lane, Heath

4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths
6,547 square feet
$1,750,000

This Tuscan-inspired estate has the amenities to justify its asking price. It also has lots of living space — a great room for entertaining, media room, formal office, secondary office, wet bar, and living room. Then, from the main level, which boasts a 25-foot beamed ceiling, a lighted elevator opens to a living area on the second floor.

Chris Dorward with Keller Williams Rockwall has listed 1712 Bison Meadow Lane for $1,750.000.
