Bring On The BreezeblocksBuilt-Ins For Days

Quick question – Does Blu Dot know about this house? Because it’s basically the backdrop for their next catalog. It’s the latest from the Sunscout Studio, a married couple with kids, exceptional taste, and time to create the best renovations.

Before we even dig into the arches which are everything I’ve ever wanted, let’s talk about how incredible these two are at working with what’s already in the home — like that brick inlay flooring, the grasscloth on the walls and all the other wallpaper. YES, that was all there.

Sunscout seamlessly blended it into their vision and while I am sincerely blown away that the wallpaper was already there (it seems so modern!!), I know those brick floors can be a real bugaboo to work around.

AND YET, Sunscout did it with style and grace. Like if this were the Summer Olympics and they were gymnasts, they 100% stuck the landing. The rest of the home is a flawless blend of what’s hip and happening in the interior design space right now.

Bring On The Breezeblocks

From the moment you pull up, you realized, these two know what the heck they’re doing. The exterior has been painted the moodiest deep charcoal and they created a custom breezeblock railing. I’m telling you right now, breeze blocks are going to be having a moment. They’re so great and an easy way to add interest to your ho-hum exterior. The single globe on an oversized brass bracket is the perfect accent to the matte porch. Rounding it out, a terracotta paint on the glass inset door to tie back to the tile. It’s a real dipsy doodle over there.

Inside, David Griffin’s David Collier said they came up with the most creative color palette and ideas…so much so that even he was surprised. He’s been in the business a minute and he’s seen a LOT of homes so when you come up with something Collier HASN’T seen, you know you’re on to something. Like the muted green ceiling in the formal living paired with the stark white walls, accented by white oak flooring and that incredible wallpaper in the dining room.

Built-Ins For Days

In the kitchen they expanded the galley, put down oversized Parquet flooring and added two arches to tie the flex space into the kitchen. (In the kitchen the white arch houses open shelving painted dusty pink and in the flex space it creates a built-in desk.)

The other built-in in the flex space is a storage bench that serves as a mudroom. It’s an extremely efficient home where surprises pop out where you least expect — like under the stairs. Collier said there’s a pull out bookcase under there that’s the perfect spot to store your luggage.

Oh, and the rest of the house is a hum dinger, too. The bathrooms are stunners, the rooms are great size, and there’s a room with a skylight upstairs that can be a bedroom or a game room.

It’s such a pretty house, it’s time for me to zip it and just let you flip through the pictures. Or if you want to see it in person, head to the open house at 10035 Edgecove Drive this Saturday, Dec. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. Collier recently adjusted the price to $965,000.
