The 2023 Preservation Dallas Achievement Award-Winners  RESIDENTIAL RENOVATION AND ADAPTIVE REUSE PROJECTS IN DALLASCOMMERCIAL AND HISTORIC RESOURCE RENOVATION PROJECTS IN DALLASRESIDENTIAL RENOVATION PROJECTS IN COLLIN COUNTYHISTORIC RESOURCE PROJECTS IN COLLIN COUNTY AND DENTON COUNTY
The Magnolia Petroleum Building in downtown Dallas’ East Quarter won a 2023 Preservation Achievement Award.

Preservation Dallas has just announced the 2023 Preservation Achievement Awards recognizing outstanding projects that preserve, rehabilitate, and enhance Dallas’ built history and neighborhoods.

Nominees submitted projects for consideration that focus on the historic significance of a building or site and the goals and challenges of the work performed. Nominations are accepted from owners, individuals, groups, neighborhoods, organizations, contractors, and architects.

Over the years, award winners have included such diverse projects as the MKT Caboose at the Katy Trail Ice House, The Eagle Ford School (where the notorious Bonnie and Clyde went to school), The Statler, The Longhorn Ballroom, and, of course, historic homes across the city.

This year submissions came in from Collin, Denton and Rockwall counties, showcasing the growing awareness of the need and value of historic preservation of our built heritage.

Our fundamental belief at Preservation Dallas is that historic buildings add to the community and the quality of life. They help us remember where we came from. Historic preservation is the closest thing to time travel we have. It’s an immersive experience. You can feel the space, see the colors, and understand how things were different. That is valuable. We are not predisposed in Dallas to preserve, so the awards are an important way to recognize efforts, show appreciation and educate the public about what is possible.

Norman Alston, FAIA, President of Preservation Dallas
