When we last heard from our heroes, Bubba and Bubbina, they were enjoying the Tudor home that Bubba had “tudored” for his queen, Bubbina. While they were enjoying the bluegrass of Kentucky, they longed for the Ozark Mountains in Missouri.
Since Bubba and Bubbina struck it rich with some of that Texas tea, they have decided to buy a second home so they can visit family in Missouri. We pick up with our heroes mid-conversation.
“Oh, Bubba, you know I love our two-durd home, but I miss Momma and Pappy sumptin’ awful. I miss hearing Pawpaw’s banjo pickin’.”
“Bubbina, my darlin’, you know I’ll do anything to keep that smile on your face. That banker said we have more money than squirrels have nuts. What kind of home do you want, shugah plum?”
“Oh Bubba, if it’s not too much, I have always fancied me having a castle with one of them there turits and windee stairs. You don’t think that would be too much do you Bubba?”
“Why it wouldn’t be too much at all,” Bubba said lovingly. “I love you, Bubbina.”

Lovestruck Bubba set out to Missouri to find a second home with a “turit” for his true love. And that is what brings us to the home featured in this week’s column.

With an asking price of $99K, Bubba found the castle for his queen at 4728 Hammett Place, Saint Louis, Missouri. The castle has 1,554 square feet along with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
After doing some repairs and upgrades, Bubba shows Bubbina her castle.
“Oh Bubba, you found me a castle with a turit just like I asked for.”
“That’s not all I did Bubbina. I got me some picture books on what castles look like and made some changes for ya.”
“Oh Bubba,” Bubbina swooned.

“All dem picture books had pointy walkways to get from one room to another so I did the same in your castle,” Bubba said with great pride.

“And I put up handrails up everywhere since the floors are different levels. I don’t want my little plum to fall and bruise herself.”
“Oh Bubba, you do take such good care of me,” Bubbina said.

“The other thing I noticed in all dem books was how they had stuck-o everywhere. So hunny, I stuck-o’d the ever living crap out of our castle.”

“Oh Bubba, it’s just the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen and I love our big ol’ picture window,” Bubbina said with great admiration at everything Bubba had done.

“And I put some mirrors in front of our windee staircase so you could see it comin’ and goin’.”

“Since those fellers at the store said I had bought all the stuck-o they had, I found this sticky paper that has rocks painted on it. It looks exactly like one of the rooms out of the picture books.”
“Oh Bubba, I bet that there queen in England wishes she had a room as nice as this,” Bubbina said with tears welling up in her eyes.

As Bubba gave his wife a little squeeze he whispered, “Bubbina, I’ve saved the best for last.”
“Oh Bubba…”

“I’ve gone ahead and put your bathroom in that turit you wanted. That way when you soak in the tub or sit on your throne you can look outside from your turit,” Bubba said with a guffaw. “I still have a little bit of work to do but I promise you it will be just right.”
“Oh Bubba,” Bubbina said. “You do know how to make me happy.”
“My life wouldn’t be nuttin’ if I didn’t make you happy Bubbina.”
And so ends this chapter in the Bubba and Bubbina love story.
