In our annual search for The Sweetest Homes in Dallas-Fort Worth, it’s no surprise this iconic Georgian mansion at 3525 Beverly Drive was a winner in the eyes of our team at Daltxrealestate.com.
Out of several nominations, this one was a shoo-in. For homes to be in the running for our Sweetest Homes in Dallas-Fort Worth nod, it had to be listed during the period between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of 2021. This home met those requirements, obviously, and it personifies what everyone wants today — classic historic architecture on the outside and completely updated inside.
I’m not sure there is a comparable transformation in Dallas, and not surprisingly, it lasted only a few days on the market in 2021. Dave Perry Miller’s Ryan Streiff was the listing agent, and Allie Beth Allman’s Rachel Trowbridge brought the California buyer. That was also not a surprise, at least to me. It’s a home that resonates with the California lifestyle.

A Methodical Transformation
When Andy and Carrie Teller bought this home in the early 2000s, they initiated the first transformation, cleaning up lines and opening up rooms for an updated look. Once the kids were grown, they transformed the home once again. It was time for an even sleeker look and new materials. They brought together the talents of architect Eric La Pointe and interior designer Barry Williams, who took the Georgian mansion to an entirely new level of sophistication with just the right touches of drama.
I mean, just look at the gorgeous lacquered media room and wet bar.

The Tellers replaced windows and installed custom hot-rolled steel doors and a NanaWall System with a view to the grounds. I don’t think they overlooked a single detail. There is also a fifth bedroom suite and game room on the third floor. Yes, I said the third floor. That’s a unique feature because you can no longer build to that height in the Park Cities!

With 8,932 square feet, four second-floor suites, six bathrooms, and a powder bath, it was a perfect fit for the family that purchased it.

“I think the drive up, and the classic architecture with the fresh interior is what so many people loved,” Streiff said. “It’s the quintessential Cole Smith Georgian facade, and that coupled with being able to walk to the elementary school were significant factors in the sale.”

Of course, Streiff had the property staged, and that is always the deal sealer because a vacant house resonates with no one.

“Eric and Barry refined the look of the classic architecture and executed the updates beautifully,” George Bass of George Bass Stage & Design said. “Our team brought in the human element so the buyer could easily visualize themselves living here. It was exciting to work on a more modern project. We had some custom artwork made and brought in more modern pieces to keep it as straightforward as possible.”

This Georgian mansion was the perfect marriage of all possible talents, and that’s why it was one of the sweetest deals of 2021!
