
To celebrate Career and Technical Education Month, we’re excited to share an announcement from the National Association of Home Builders. Each year, the NAHB honors housing professionals who excel in teaching NAHB education courses. These courses are designed to keep builders on top of current trends while continually improving their skillsets. This year, three Dallas pros took top honors, and we think that’s something to celebrate. (Because they could be designing our next homes – fingers crossed.)
Phil Crone, Executive Director of the Dallas Builders Association, is especially excited about this news.
“To have one, let alone three of our members receive this honor is a tremendous testament to the quality of education the DBA provides,” says Crone. “These three teachers have been at the foundation of our education program which I believe is truly making it one of the best the country has to offer. We’re extremely proud of them and the work that they’ve done.”
Without further ado, meet our Dallas home pro heroes:

Donny Mack – Builder Designee of the Year
President and CEO of Beaver Builders, Donny Mack is a 30-year industry veteran of the Dallas home building industry. Donny leads his business by example, believing in continued education that helps him succeed in all facets of the industry.
Mack holds four NAHB designations and frequently attends classes to gain new insight. He is also an NAHB Master Instructor for professional designation courses.

Matt Mitchell – Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) Designee of the Year
Owner of James Andrews Custom Homes LLC in Dallas, Mitchell’s been a builder and realtor since 2002. He’s actively involved in the Dallas Builders Association, holding various leadership roles since 2011.
Mitchell’s quest for knowledge earned him several college degrees, including an associate of arts and science degree in construction management from North Lake College.

Tag Gilkeson – Educator of the Year
Owner of Tag & Associates, LLC, a design-build company located in Carrollton, Gilkeson got his start as a Realtor. He obtained his Texas real estate license in 1999 before earning an associate degree in architecture and a bachelor’s degree in construction management in 2009.
Gilkeson works diligently as an NAHB instructor, educating his industry peers while doing what he loves best, teaching. He is also an active member of the Dallas Builders Association.
