My first introduction to something sleek and sexy was the television show The Addam’s Family. Gomez and Morticia Addams had a certain je ne sais quoi.

Gomez was a smarmy fellow who was independently wealthy and passionately in love with his wife, Morticia. Morticia enjoyed cutting the buds off of roses and by simply saying je ne sais quoi, or anything in French, she could drive her husband mad with lust. She would hold out her arm so he could plant kisses on it as he worked his way up to her neck. Truly, Morticia was a queen.

Of the many television couples during the mid-1960s, Gomez and Morticia Addams were the epitome of being sleek and sexy.

Naturally, this all leads me to the home featured in this week’s column. The first line in the description is a grabber and if Gomez and Morticia were in the market for a new home, this would be right up their alley, but looks can be deceiving.

The “mysterious, black, octagon-shaped home” pictured above is located at 110 Edgar St, Lincoln, Illinois and sits on half an acre. The home has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,547 square feet. The owners are asking $250,000. A mere pittance for Gomez and Morticia.

There’s not much about an octagon that is sleek and sexy. In the description, the listing agent boasts that there are no square rooms. Imagine being the neighbor that has to look at this home every day. It definitely sets a mood and not in a way that Gomez and Morticia would like.

I have a feeling that Gomez and Morticia would have more of an issue with the decor.

Gomez and Morticia do not need to be reminded to “Enjoy the Journey.”

I know this life-affirming decor is all the rage right now, but there is a reason why it is being made fun of but no more so than in a house like this one. Living in a house that is black, both on the inside and the outside, is all the life-affirmation you need.

When Morticia was in the kitchen cooking eye of newt for dinner, she did not need to be reminded that “Today is a good day for a good day.”

On to the bedroom.

Tony “Scarface” Montana would love the message above the bed but Gomez and Morticia already know the world is theirs.

The decorations in the bathroom, while limiting, actually work in tandem.

While it can be somewhat restrictive to have a “Don’t Fart” sign in your bathroom it does work well with the other picture that reminds you to “Be Kind.”

Much like the Addams Family, this home is unique but does it meet the standard of sleek and sexy for Gomez and Morticia? I do not think so. What I’m most sure of though is that Gomez and Morticia were always gracious and they would absolutely give these folks some life-affirming snaps.
