Real-estate statistics are going to look a little skewed this time of the year. It was about this time in 2020 that the COVID-19 pandemic was slowing transactions because of various protocols and mandates.

That’s the reason Dallas County home sales sound so impressive. Year-over-year sales experienced a 47 percent increase in April, according to the latest numbers from the Dallas-based MetroTex Association of Realtors.

For all of the 18-county region, real-estate agents sold 28 percent more homes in April than the same period in 2020.

Last month, real-estate agents sold more than 2,500 Dallas County homes and led the region in total home sales.

Median sales prices in Dallas County were up 24 percent from April 2020 levels, second only to Denton County, which had a 26 percent increase.

In comparison, Tarrant County had 2,480 sales and a 27.8 percent increase. Collin County had 1,531 sales and a 24.6 percent increase.

MetroTex provides current, monthly, and annual data reports supported by the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.
