Hang Your Stockings with Care in This Fort Worth Classic Colonial

This Fort Worth Classic Colonial is the perfect holiday home. Located at 3912 Lenox Drive, our Inwood Home of the Week is located in the sought-after Monticello neighborhood. It has the treasured traditional elements we love, as well as flawless updates. Best of all, it’s received the talented touch of the JSH Design team.

There’s nothing that I love more than a classic home, but add some edgy designer features and I’m swooning. Updating these homes is not difficult. Almost everyone wants a white kitchen with marble granite or quartz countertops. Brass hardware has made a big comeback, and the big shower is a must. Those are the things that are no-brainers.

VECTOR3912-Lenox-Dr-1It’s adding the right design elements that baffle most of us. We’re generally scared of color and bold artwork, and we have no clue how to mix modern and traditional furniture properly—this is why we have interior designers! The JSH Design girls — Julie Herd and Kim Boyd — have taken this 4,491-square-foot Fort Worth Classic Colonial to another level.

One of the clever things I learned talking to Boyd this week is how they created the look and feel of an entry where none existed. “We used a wonderful Lindsey Cowles wallpaper on either side of the dining room exterior walls, facing the formal living room,” Boyd said. “It creates a psychological separation of space.”VECTOR3912-Lenox-Dr-1

3912-Lenox-Dr-7The easy blending of vintage with modern has a lot to do with color and fabric, which you can see throughout this Fort Worth Classic Colonial’s four-bedroom, four-bathroom floor plan. It helps when you have clients that collect vintage furniture and great artwork, of course! Nowhere is this more evident than in the family room. The owners had a beautiful piece of art, John Holt Smith’s Oculus, in some pretty bold colors, like hot pink! This is where you have to trust your designers! They pulled that hot pink in with pillows and carried it through in the kitchen on the benches. It’s just enough to make you smile and yet never grow weary of that bold hue.3912-Lenox-Dr-7

3912-Lenox-Dr-7Nothing updates a traditional home more than color used in the right way. The study is painted a deep aubergine, (yes, that’s purple, ya’ll). “It’s the room where everyone gravitates,” Boyd said. “It’s unbelievably cozy.” And the curtains are an exact match — it’s one of the many reasons we hire interior designers!

If you have been wondering about where to hang your stockings in this Fort Worth Classic Colonial, well, just count. There are three fireplaces downstairs. You can hang a ton of stockings in this home!

3912-Lenox-Dr-7Another reason I love a good Colonial is that all of the private spaces are upstairs. This makes for generous bedrooms! When a house is large enough that a secondary bedroom easily fits two queen beds, you know you’re in the right place.

3912-Lenox-Dr-7If you are wondering about Monticello, it’s one of those great old neighborhoods close to everything. You can walk to Rivercrest Country Club, and you are only minutes from the Cultural District.

This Fort Worth Classic Colonial has it all: tradition, a great designer look, incredible location, and of course, plenty of space to hang your Christmas stockings with care. All of this for only $1.6 million. Give Williams Trew listing agent Joseph Berkes a call, quickly!  This beauty has only been listed for a week, and we know there is already a lot of interest!
