Five Reasons Why Right Now is a Great Time to Start Building Your Pool

Now is the time to start planning your backyard pool, says Harold Leidner. Find out why winter is a great time to get started.
Well, the holidays are over, it’s cold outside, and everyone is back to work and school. Now it’s back to the grind and the long haul till spring break. Maybe you’ve been thinking about putting in a pool, or maybe you’ve been remembering those warm summer days and how nice it would have been to have a pool in the backyard? You are not alone, but is now the time to start thinking about getting that pool project? We asked our friends over at Harold Leidner Landscape Architects to suggest a few reasons why you might want to get that project going.
Jump to see five reasons why you should start building your backyard oasis right now!

Construction time – Swimming pools and landscape projects are not overnight operations, and do take time to complete (design, pricing, permitting, construction, etc.) and everyone wants to have the pool ready on or before Memorial Day (140 days and counting until Memorial Day, by the way). Starting the design and planning now is a great way to get a jump on the schedule and make sure there is no last-minute dash to try and complete the project. It’s also a nice time of year to focus on a warm weather project rather than looking outside at a cold and empty backyard.
Pricing – Now is also a great time to begin the pool and landscape project discussion since it is winter, which tends to be the slow season for pool companies and contractors. Everyone will be eager to get new work and projects lined up for the spring and summer, so their pricing will typically be a little more affordable and competitive. Give Harold Leidner a call and they can help you get the design started, along with providing you guidance in evaluating the best contractors while still receiving the best value.
Scheduling – Again, being that it is a little slower season for most companies, their schedules will be a little lighter and they can typically start and complete your project sooner. If you wait till late spring, the contractors and subcontractors will likely get much busier and thus the timeframes can be extended well into the summer.

Private pools and spas are fantastic for small yards. Planning is key when it comes to integrating a pool into a landscape and hardscape, says Harold Leidner.
Holiday momentum – You can also keep the family excited and extend the joy of the holiday season a bit by announcing to the family that a pool is in the works. This should get everyone a little excited for summer, and the potential opportunity for family entertainment, pool parties or just some quiet, private relaxation. There’s no reason Santa Claus can’t make another visit in January to deliver this news, and anticipation is part of the enjoyment.
Fun and relaxation – Why delay the fun and relaxation for you and your family? Putting in a swimming pool and new landscape project in the backyard should be fun, and wouldn’t it be relaxing to come home from a long day to take a lap in your own pool or unwind in your own private spa? Working with an experienced landscape architect and construction company that provides comprehensive design (pool and hardscape as well as landscape) along with the proper planning, will often insure that things go smoothly and take away many of the stresses.

If you’re considering or have been thinking about putting in a pool now is a great time to take action! Are you planning a pool for your home?
