We’ve spent a fair amount of time ridiculing people for their DIY Fails, but sometimes — even if it’s a fail — you have to give a person credit for finding a creative solution that works.

Or at least for trying really hard.

Cork Plugging a Leak in the Ceiling

I mean, look at it! It fits perfectly!

Pillowcase Filling Wall Penetration

This was likely a temporary fix during the bad weather a few months ago. Not bad in a pinch, but by now there’s probably mold growing in there, and it’s likely still leaking because it’s a PIECE OF CLOTH.

Almost But Not Quite

Spray foam is a great and energy-efficient way to insulate your attic, but bless their hearts, people almost always get something wrong. These folks went to a lot of effort, but missed the mark.

Now that we’ve given credit where credit is due, we can resume ridiculing people for not remembering to fix the temporary solution they came up with before listing their homes for sale.
