Three Robberies at NorthPark Center Since December 16, One Involving a Gun

This is a real estate blog, but we cover incidents that affect the way we live in our neighborhoods and homes such as a string of violent attacks on shoppers at nearby malls or strip centers. After all, malls and shopping centers are part of the equation that creates residential quality of life. Indeed, this string may make one wonder if we are not safer downtown, where security experts say you are actually safer in an environment with many people out, on the streets, walking. Certainly you walk once inside NorthPark, but the security issue comes as you either arrive or leave that mall, or any mall.

NorthPark Mall is ranked among the top five shopping destinations in the country with more than 26 million visitors annually. It is a top Dallas attraction, and the anchor stores – Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy’s and Dillard’s – consistently perform at the top in sales volume, according to the mall’s website.

Tonight, Fox4 News followed up on the story of yesterday’s attack of a mother just getting back into her car, with her husband and toddler, inside a NorthPark Mall parking garage. The story alone has frightened many, but it seems there have been 3 major crime incidents at Northpark Mall since December 16, one of which involved a gun.
