This Is No Ordinary Condo for Sale, This Is The Mansion

When the late Realtor Judy Pittman became the broker of record for the Mansion Residences back in the early ‘90s, she described our love affair with high-rise living to a tee.

“Dallas doesn’t have mountains or an ocean, but it has a magnificent skyline. You watch the city wake up and go to sleep. You see the storms roll in and feel the power. The sense of sky is magical.”

The Dallas skyline is magical, and so are the ultra-exclusive Mansion Residences at 2801 Turtle Creek Blvd., where Compass’ Christy Berry has listed Unit 10W for sale. And when we say exclusive, we mean only 21 homeowners et al can call the Mansion home and they don’t hit the market very often.

When the Rosewood Property Company built the Mansion Residences in 1992, the Spanish Mission-style building was actually designed with 24 penthouse shells — creating the intimacy of two units per floor. Dallas’ elite snapped them all up. They brought in top-notch designers to luxuriously finish out their new Turtle Creek residences.

“This impressive home is unique in that the sellers bought it as the last unfinished shell in the building,” Berry says. Homeowner Charlie Bowen explains: “In 2007, we were extremely fortunate to discover 10-West, a privately owned and undeveloped unit in The Mansion Residence, the crème de la crème of high-end Dallas condominium properties. We spent two years designing our home and, without financial cost considered, finished it in 2010.”

But just like in Chicago or NYC where high-rise living is the norm, a few Mansion homeowners have jumped at the chance to incorporate an adjacent unit when it became available. As such, one condo boasts a private downstairs wine cellar (a floor below) and another that occupies a whole floor (a floor above). And residents here, well, they’re Dallas philanthropic royalty — the kind who have DMA collections and building wings named for them.

Of course, when Rosewood opened, they launched a concept that has now been copied worldwide. The idea was to build a high-rise luxury residence with all the advantages of a world-class hotel. Residents have full use of the amenities at the spectacular hotel Caroline Rose Hunt built, the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. That means 24-hour service with two concierges, around-the-clock room service provided by one of America’s most well-known restaurants, and security that would meet the expectations of the most renowned celebrity. Residents also receive exclusive privileges at Rosewood properties around the world.

Speaking of around the world, the finish out in this two-bedroom, three-bath home incorporates international elements and influences. “During a trip to Murano, Italy, we commissioned both of the Murano Glass Chandeliers in the size, color and design fitting for our new home,” the seller Bowen says.

Premium Sapele wood, a hardwood from Africa, wows in both the study and the hallway, lined with Japanese Shoji-style sliding doors. The Sapele wood is repeated in the breakfast bar of the show-stopping German Bulthaup kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances that will delight home chefs and please design aficionados alike.

And remember what the late Realtor Judy Pittman, the original “Mayoress of Turtle Creek,” said about those views. You can enjoy views of downtown and the city at large from plentiful floor-to-ceiling windows, all with electric shades that offer privacy at the push of a button.

Christy Berry of Compass Real Estate has listed 2801 Turtle Creek Blvd. No. 10W with 3,669 square feet for $4.499 million.
