This Greenway Parks English Traditional is a Keeper

Now, more than ever, we are drawn to homes that evoke a feeling of warmth, security, and stability. This English traditional in Greenway Parks checks every box, and boy is it a keeper!

Greenway Parks is a gem of a neighborhood. There are only about 300 homes and many are architecturally significant. It’s such a popular neighborhood that houses often pass between relatives and friends. So, it’s not easy to find a house here, and even more difficult to get your hands on one that’s been completely updated, like this English traditional. Built in 1949 to take advantage of the site lines down Greenway Boulevard, it’s one of the more unique homes I’ve seen in ages.

Remember how I go on and on (and on) about livability? You can have a perfectly pretty house, but if it’s not easy to live in, you won’t stay long. It’s always a testament to a home if an owner has been there for decades. The present owners have lived in this stunning English traditional for 30 years. That tells you all you need to know, frankly. But, I’ll go ahead and give you the icing on the cake.

Digging into the Dallas Morning News archives, I found it belonged to the president of U.S. Tire Supply, Ralph Perry McClure, who also found it hard to leave. He stayed for more than 20 years.

The next owner was fashion designer Victor Costa. Now if you’ve been here since the 1980s, no explanation is needed. Everyone knew Victor Costa, and everyone owned or coveted one of his cocktail dresses or ball gowns. You could find his designs in Neiman’s, Nordstroms, and Bergdorf Goodman, and his clients ranged from first ladies to movie stars. By 2008 he was a selling machine on QVC. Today you might compare him to Tadashi Shoji, but frankly, Victor has no comparison. When he owned this home he was known to preview his Spring collections here at a luncheon for special clients, tenting the grounds on the green belt. Can you imagine? The current owner first saw this English traditional home from the park during one of these shows and fell in love with it.

“When you drive up, you almost feel like you’re in a Disney movie,” Allie Beth Allman listing agent Sanders Avrea said. “It’s in a manicured, regal setting. You know you are in for something special when you enter the front door. “

And indeed, you are. When there are few owners, all with great taste, a home is not only well cared for but the updates are also sensitive. That makes all the difference. As the home was expanded, a great deal of thought was given to every detail, and each owner added a tasteful layer of character.

Call Sanders Avera or Kyle Crews and if you can’t’ get over to see it right away, you can bet they will send you a video tour of this English traditional at 5506 Waneta Drive.

Just remember, move-in ready for $2.5 million is amazing, and as I said, this is a keeper!
