With 1,002 drones choreographed to try to make history, Guinness World Records adjudicators will join North Texans Monday to see if a planned extravaganza at Birdville ISD Plaza is the largest drone show ever in the U.S.

Of course, fireworks are part of the excitement, too, but it’s the drone show that will make this celebration really light up the sky.

Sky Elements Drones will present a choreographed display from 9:30 to 10 p.m.

“Let’s make something big happen in North Richland Hills,” said Rick Boss, who co-founded Sky Elements with Preston Ward, a North Richland Hills native. “There will be fireworks. There will be drones. There will be records broken.”

The show will be set to music, and a spectacular display is promised.

“It will be a history of the United States in the sky,” Boss said. “It’s going to be a really big show.

What: North Tarrant Family 4th Fireworks and Drone Show, which despite its name happens on July 3. Bounce houses, food trucks, and music from the Texas All-Star Jazz Orchestra are planned prior to the drone show, with lawn chairs and blankets allowed for seating.

The concert and other activities will take place in the BISD Plaza parking lot, although the sky show may be viewed from parking lots at BISD Plaza, 6351 Boulevard 26, North Richland Hills, and at Wiley G. Thomas Coliseum, 6108 Broadway Ave., Haltom City. Vehicles will not be allowed to park along the streets. Admission and parking are free.
