Though it was built in 1990, the stunning French Provincial-style home at 3637 Maplewood in Highland Park is completely au courant, and that’s no accident.
Designed by the inimitable Jan Showers and built custom for the exceptionally tasteful couple of David and Emberly Pridham, this home sports a dignified luxury rarely found today. While the home feels like it’s worth every penny of its $9.75 million asking price, the sellers have engaged Concierge Auctions to start the bidding on this gorgeous estate with no reserve.
What’s interesting about the auction, which commences Nov. 29 and closes Dec. 12, is the proposed starting bid of $3 million to $5 million. Though it’s doubtful that the impeccably decorated home will sell for that amount, just the thought of scoring such an incredible deal has likely piqued the interest of the luxury home-buying market.
A Beautiful, Creative Home
The Pridhams are a creative bunch, with David and Emberli both writing wonderful children’s books. Emberli just released A Real-Life Fairy Tale: Princess Diana this year. The 48-page book is a pictorial biography of the “people’s princess” and offers a kid-friendly look at the life of a legendary woman.
Here’s what our Karen Eubank had to say about the home:
It’s easy to see how creativity unfolded in such a warm and inspiring environment. Showers enveloped the home in a soothing palette of blues and pinks that seemed to be plucked from a Monet painting.
We all know flexibility is key with a growing family, so the 8,256-square-foot home is cleverly configured to provide up to seven ensuite bedrooms. Currently, it’s arranged for use with five bedrooms, an exercise room, and a playroom. I’d be hesitant to give up that wonderful playroom. It makes living innovatively and creatively in a beautiful home with three children much easier!
