The Margritzes Fell in Love With Oak Cliff And You Will Too

When the Margritzes moved to their Oak Cliff home, they thought it would be forever.

When Sandy Margritz left Little Rock, Arkansas, to move to Fort Worth to join her soon-to-be husband, Josh, she left a world behind. Not just the Ozarks and canopied treetops and mountains, she left an entire profession, too. She was an environmental scientist that traveled around after natural disasters to test water and soil and make sure it was safe for the locals and relief workers. She said, “I don’t know if this is interesting or not…” Hello? Of course, it is and what came next was just as fascinating.

She and her husband realized they both couldn’t travel like crazy – someone needed to call Texas home – so Sandy raised her hand. “I was a little burned out on travel, but I didn’t really have a clue what I wanted to do.” Then she told her husband, “Well, I really liked getting married, maybe I’ll do something with weddings?” She got a job with Boxwood Hospitality and that was that. Until it wasn’t.

Boxwood purchased and remodeled a venue in Oak Cliff – a beautiful old church, The Cliff House – and once Sandy and Josh discovered Oak Cliff, that really was it. They met their Realtor, Dave Perry-Miller’s Ged Dipprey (“Love him!”), and he helped them find their unicorn – an older home with new insides, an attached garage, and an office. They moved in, painted the walls white, remodeled the kitchen, and called it their dream home. And they love it. They absolutely love it.

This past year they hosted Thanksgiving and they’ve stocked every room with forever furniture. They walk their dog to all the local hot spots – Nova, PhD, Oddfellows on Sunday for brunch – and they couldn’t be happier with their little corner of Winnetka Heights. And now, it could be yours.

Wait, what?

That’s right. Josh got a job in Chicago and they’re headed up north to carve out a new wonderfully charming life. But the one they’ve so lovingly created is up for grabs. Of course, you’ll have to find your own forever furniture, but with this stunning home, it won’t be hard. Everything looks beautiful with 307 N. Clinton as a backdrop. See the full home here or stop by the Open House, Sunday, June 2, from 2 to 4 p.m.
