Stunning Overton Park Spread on Tanbark Trail in Ft Worth

I’m so grateful to Renee Eiband from the Briggs Freeman Mira Vista office for bringing to my attention this spectacular Overton Park residence on Tanbark Trail that is nothing short of lavish. Constructed in 2015 by builder Dan Hatley, this modern chateau with five bedrooms and six-and-one-half baths clocks in at over 6,200 square feet of luxury living.

Executed in the French style, the traditional designed abode features an elegant, baroque style, cast stone surround, which embraces the double front door and arched window above. The dining room benefits from a balustraded terrace at front, accessed from a pair of French doors.

The grand foyer, with its floating, serpentine stairway and checkerboard marble floors certainly registers wow factor. Roomy enough for a baby grand piano and sitting area for guests to await the arrival of their Uber, this is not wasted space.

To the left is a study with ceiling beams and woodwork in that fashionable, deep French blue that’s turning up everywhere (including my own kitchen). Call it a leitmotif threading through the downstairs. The color harmony with the saffron curtains is spot on.

The back of the downstairs is dominated by a commanding great room with soaring, rustic beamed cathedral ceilings and white oak floors.

The expansive chef’s kitchen at the other end of the great room features custom floor to ceiling cabinetry and a colossal island with a farmhouse sink. The island also houses a built-in warming drawer, microwave oven, and ice maker. The double oven gas range is a 48″ Viking model. The space is buoyed by bright white bead board ceilings.

An intimate sitting room off the kitchen provides respite with a cozy fireplace and built in window seat and shelves. There’s that lovely French blue again.

The premium finish-out of this opulent dwelling is of the highest quality. Trim and millwork in the dining room evoke a mood of nostalgia. The graceful chandelier is 19th century. Behind the arched door is a wine room with storage for fifty cases.

The dog shower in the tiled laundry room is delightful and large enough for the biggest pooch.

The spacious master bedroom, reached from a corridor off the great room, features an exquisite fireplace and access to a private patio. The bath with twin vanities, roomy shower stall, and slipper tub is classic composition in black and white marble-much of it large slab.

There is another guest bedroom on the ground floor with two additional bedrooms upstairs. An additional fillip on the second floor is a cheerful sitting area with an office and craft area behind. Above the two car garage is a complete guest suite housing the fifth bedroom and a full kitchen — all of it finished to the same high standard as the main house.

“Proportion is the good breeding of architecture.” So said Edith Wharton in 1902 in the still relevant The Decoration of Houses. Notice how perfectly the pool echoes the scale of the covered patio with complete outdoor kitchen, and the protruding wing adjoining it. The simplicity of the controlled scheme creates an environment of dignified harmony.

Renee Eiband of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s Mira Vista office has listed 4212 Tanbark Trail for $2,700,000.
