It’s golf season here in Cowtown, and a great time to be outdoors. Before the bugs and 100-plus degree weather takes over in Texas, now is the perfect time for evening walks, hitting the links, and enjoying various beverages under the stars.
While the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club is in full swing (pun intended), there are plenty of beautiful golf courses to view and make a good walk spoiled. One such prestigious course is found at Shady Oaks Country Club.

Tidbit on Shady Oaks
Shady Oaks Golf Course has a fascinating history. Spawned from the mind of famous Fort Worth merchant Marvin Leonard in the 1950s, Leonard relied on course architect Robert Trent Jones and his friend Ben Hogan to create one of the most lavish and magnificent membership courses in the country.

Hogan’s take on the course shows his particular affinity as well, as he is quoted, “Anyone who is building a golf course anywhere in the world and doesn’t come down to see what has been done at Shady Oaks will be making a big mistake.”
Biggest and Best View of Shady Oaks
If it’s grand enough for Ben Hogan, then it should be grand enough for you. That’s why the home at 6158 Indian Creek Drive in Westover Hills is the perfect home for those that want the biggest view of the course.

The luxury home of over 6,900 square feet sits on the largest homesite along the course at 2.25 acres. The property not only allows you to enjoy the 8th fairway, but it provides plenty of views, shade, and space to play, relax or just enjoy.

The Main Home
The main home at 6158 Indian Creek Drive features four bedrooms, four-and-two-half-bathrooms and also include five fireplaces! What is most noticeable about this home is how livable it is. It’s a large home with his-and-her offices, formal living and dining areas, and a recently enlarged master suite, however, it feels homey — not like other properties of this size that come across as stale and cold.

Maybe it’s because the home doesn’t feature unnecessary soaring ceilings or have ostentatious fixtures or appointments that are distracting, but this is definitely a place where gatherings of friends and family would feel at home.
All bedrooms are over-sized and have en suite bathrooms. Six-inch oak floors grace the main level and the master bathroom not only has two closets but two commodes as well.

The Property
I’ve already told you about the size of the homesite at 6158 Indian Creek. Now let me share what else is on the property.

It’s Texas, so a pool is a necessity! A private pool and recently updated entertainment cabana sit quietly along the 8th fairway as well.
Beside the cabana is a one-bedroom guesthouse complete with kitchenette. A perfect mother-in-law suite or for short-term guests.

So Much More
I would be remiss not to mention the gardening beds, additional storage rooms, golf cart garage, workout room, mosquito misting system, gas generator, high-end surveillance system, and so many other features … you’re going to have to enjoy this property for yourself.

This golf course home at 6158 Indian Creek Drive is listed for $5.295 million by Alann Nolan and Lynne Eller of Williams Trew Real Estate.
