Texas has six of the friendliest neighborhoods in America, with the No. 5 spot going to South Boulevard Park Row, a historic district in southern Dallas.

Before you go trying to snatch up a lot or a brand new build in the area, you should know the study isn’t exactly scientific. North Carolina-based All-Star Home compiled a list of popular U.S. neighborhoods based on the 200 most-viewed areas on Zillow in 2022.

“Then we analyzed nearly 150,000 Google reviews from the past year for businesses in those neighborhoods,” the study states.

The data was culled from a percentage of neighborhood reviews that used the word “friendly.” South Boulevard Park Row reviewers employed that keyword in 15.7 percent of their write-ups.

Known for its Prairie-style homes, Craftsman bungalows, and Tudor cottages designed by legendary architect Clifford Hutsell, the South Boulevard/Park Row Historic District consists of more than 100 houses on two streets of the Edgewood addition, built primarily by the city’s Jewish community around Temple Emmanu-El near South Boulevard and Harwood Street.

Ranking among the friendliest businesses in America was Houndstooth Coffee, with Dallas locations at North Henderson, Sylvan|Thirty, and Walnut Hill. Almost 30 percent of reviewers used the word “friendly” when referring to Houndstooth.

The local coffee shop also serves tea, beer, wine, and pastries. Local and national suppliers source sustainable products “from the finest estates, farms, and provinces around the world,” according to the website.

Cedra Pharmacy and Kingwood Tire and Automotive Service, both in Houston, also made the cut as some of the friendliest businesses in America. National chains Trader Joe’s, The UPS Store, and Great Clips earned high marks for service with a smile.

In addition to South Boulevard Park Row, the South Hills neighborhood in Fort Worth earned the No. 11 spot as one of the friendliest places to call home.

The following Texas neighborhoods were also recognized among the friendliest, according to the All Star Home report.

  • With 18.75 percent of reviews with the word “friendly,” Houston’s Kingwood neighborhood emerged as the No. 2 friendliest.
  • With 13.95 percent of reviews with the word “friendly,” San Antonio’s The Dominion neighborhood emerged as the No. 20 friendliest.
  • The Joyville neighborhood in Austin and the Northwest neighborhood in El Paso also made the list of friendliest for large cities.
