The Hallmark of OglesbyLocation and Style for Days

What if I told you that you could own a Bud Oglesby-designed condo for less than $200,000? In the heart tres chic Mansion Park, no less. How fast would you scoop it up? Well, your midcentury dreams just came true, because this beyond-rare unit on Hood Street is on the market for $197,000. And I’m warning you. It’s terribly cute.

Listed by Ebby Halliday Realtor’s Sharon Morales, this unit at 2711 Hood Street comprises one bedroom and one bathroom and makes for one dreamy (and affordable!) first home. I love imagining this property with just the right midcentury furnishings, but even as is, it just delights me. I’m plum crazy about that ceiling.

The Hallmark of Oglesby

The living room, which opens to a charming private patio, appears cozy, while simultaneously plenty spacious for entertaining. The polished concrete floors make my heart go pitter-patter.

And the mirrored wall? I wonder if it would be problematic if you were to mount a TV on the opposite wall instead of art? Possibly. But as it is, the mirrors make the space feel so open and bright, I can’t say I mind it.

“The openness, that’s the hallmark of Oglesby,” said Morales. “The mirrors, while they’re not everybody’s cup of tea, really impact the visual appeal. Everybody is very surprised at how spacious it is for 705 square feet.”

And as apartments go, that eat-in-kitchen island is really quite generous. Plenty of space for a couple, or even for entertaining. Everyone congregates to the kitchen island anyway! On the other side of the island, you’ll find a European-style DECO washer dryer combo. Handy! Again, everything is so bright and airy-looking, it feels much bigger than it is. The open shelving provides a nice touch, too (provided you’re the tidy type).

Down the hall you find a great sized shower in the bathroom with a giant bench for all your products.

Location and Style for Days

There’s but one wee window in the bedroom, but another wall of mirrors makes for a brighter, bigger feel. Maybe also a little…entertainment? Ahem. Again, it’s fun to imagine tweaking the furnishings just a tad. Swap that giant four-poster bed for a lower profile modern piece and the room would feel perfectly ample.

The unit comes with attached covered parking and a shared pool on property. Then there’s the location. “Gee whiz, the location could not be any better,” said Morales. “It’s walkable to parks, restaurants, and the grocery store. Every time I do a showing there, there’s all kinds of people out walking, either with their pets or exercising. It’s very appealing!”
