Can I say that I was a little disappointed that Dallas’s wealthiest neighborhoods — Highland Park and Preston Hollow — ranked only 164th and 444th, respectively, in Forbes’ survey of the richest Zip codes in America? Preston Hollow didn’t even break into the top 5 priciest Zip Codes in Texas, for crying out loud.
Of course, that tiny sliver of overpriced dirt called “Manhattan” ranked first.
Whatevs.
Still, the dirt in Preston Hollow houses some of the most amazing homes on U.S. soil. And now you can gawk at all the pretty mansions in 75220 and find out how their owners made them dollars, all from the comfort of your favorite device, thanks to MansionMap.
MansionMap was created to be part public resource, part “Where The Stars Live” map for the wealthiest homeowners in the world, said creator Greg Berry.
“Growing up my favorite hobby was driving through the rich neighborhoods with my brother. I’ve travelled the world and, wherever I end up, I always find myself seeking out the wealthiest neighborhoods and admiring the homes. My guess is that others are attracted to this also so I built a site that allows you to virtually stroll through any neighborhood in America from your living room,” Berry said.
It’s a little voyeuristic, but who doesn’t love some good House Porn? I know we at CandysDirt do. Of course, Berry stresses that all of the info obtained and presented by MansionMap is already available to anyone who knows where to look.
“I strongly believe showing the wealthiest zip codes in the country, viewing the mansions, and learning a bit (what’s publicly available) about the owner is very inspirational for the same reason that biographies of successful people line book shelves throughout the world,” Berry said.
I suppose it also works in reverse, too, as the wealthy-yet-notorious are also on display right next to the philanthropists and do-gooders.
