Mad Men Obsessed: This Glam Midcentury Condo Behind the Pink Wall Is a Dream

If you love the look of Mad Men and all things of that era, then we’ve got an iconic midcentury condo for you!

The glam, spacious first-floor condo at 6307 Bandera Ave. has over 2,000 square feet and is owned by a Dallas interior designer. Located behind the Pink Wall, it features one of the most awesomely retro and cohesive midcentury looks we’ve ever seen.

“The owner used to own an incredible Uptown retail store that focused on antiques and vintage furniture and a lot of what’s in this midcentury condo comes from things she’s collected over the years,” said listing agent Suzanne Warner with Coldwell Banker Residential. “She wanted to maintain the authenticity of that period but saw that some of the condo needed to be updated, so she did things like put in new Terrazzo floors, new bathrooms, new cabinetry, and a wine cooler.”

For those of you swooning over the furniture and accessories, grab your smelling salts and get ready. Much of it is for sale with first right of refusal going to the buyer. Even better, things like the fixed lights and draperies convey.

This home has two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, one half bath, and 2,110 square feet on one story, built in 1960. There is an open house Sunday, April 8, from 2-4 p.m.

The period look of this midcentury condo fits perfectly with the Park Carillon Condos, where it is located near West Northwest Highway and Preston Road. The two-story, pink-brick building has a central courtyard and the property is graced with mature shade trees. This is a first-floor unit with two covered parking spaces and a private, fenced patio.

Across the Terrazzo floor of the entryway, walk down a short hallway into the first living area with hardwood floors, crown molding, and recessed lights. A lot of older condos are dark with small windows, but this one has an abundance of natural light in almost every room.

The photos of the condo are remarkable — it’s hard to believe it really looks this good. But Warner says this midcentury condo surprises people.

“We have such great real estate pictures nowadays, a lot of time it’s disappointing to see a place in real life because it doesn’t look the same,” she said. “I had a martini party for an agent preview that was so much fun and everyone was saying this place was even even better than they expected.”

The formal dining room has space for a table for six and the kitchen, built-in banquette seating with a table. And that kitchen! Love the geometric wallpaper, Terrazzo floors, Bertazzoni electric range and microwave, and black stainless KitchenAid refrigerator and dishwasher. Down the hall, a wet bar is super chic with 60s wallpaper and wine cooler.

Both bedrooms have hardwoods and walk-in closets and there’s plenty of storage everywhere. The updates to the bathrooms are masterful, marrying vintage style with modern finds, like frameless glass half walls for the bathtub, new glass square tile, and fab wallpaper.

The owner’s goal was to bring balance, texture, color and warmth into her designs, Warner says, and we think she succeeded. This midcentury condo was listed March 26 for $377,000. Monthly HOA dues are $750 and include all utilities, exterior and common area maintenance, full use of facilities, management fees, and trash.
