One of Dallas’ Premier Custom Builders Puts His Own Luxury Custom Home Up for Sale

When Mickey Munir built the luxury home at 14929 Havenshire Pl. in Addison 17 years ago, it was intended to be a model home to showcase his capabilities as a custom builder and architect. He is the founder and CEO of Sharif Munir Uncustomary Custom Homes and many of the houses in this neighborhood were built by him.

Every aspect of the home is grand, and in its two years as a model, Munir estimates he sold ten to 15 build-to-suits after clients saw it. But at the end of that time, Munir and his wife Michele decided to call it home, and have been here ever since.

They’ve been happily splitting their time between this house and one on Lake Texoma. But their kids are grown and this house rarely gets visitors (unlike the Lake Texoma house), so it’s time to sell.

This is a 7,400-square-foot luxury home in the exclusive Bellbrook Estates, sitting on half an acre with four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and two half bathrooms. There’s also a 12-person formal dining area, dramatic entry foyer with grand staircase, geothermal heating and cooling, gourmet indoor kitchen, outdoor kitchen, 40-foot lap pool with a sunken conversation pool at one end, a private master courtyard with spa and fireplace, and so much more.

“It’s loaded with so many features, every trick in the book you could put in it in 1998, and it has all been updated to current standards,” Munir said. “It’s got a lot of great technology, like an AMX home automation system, Lutron lighting system, an eight-seat theater with a new projector, screen, and speakers.”

The home belongs entirely to Michele, a point he wanted to emphasize: “We’ve lived through four recessions. This protects her in case the sky falls on me.”

The house is contemporary with a blend of neoclassical and Biedermeier architectural styles, built for company.

“It’s designed for adults with grown children, an entertaining house,” he said. “This house was out-of-the-box in 1998—everybody wanted a French or Mediterranean house—and this was purposeful. Nancy Dubick of Dallas Design Groups, Interiors personally did the interior work in collaboration with us.”

This home is listed for $2.45 million by Grady Yates with Sharif & Munir Ventures, Inc.

The home has a large circular driveway and pristine exterior, with a gated three-car garage on the right of the property. The entry foyer ceilings soar, and it’s hard to know whether to look up the intricate iron staircase railings to the second story, or down, at the patterned marble floors laid by master craftsmen. To the right, an elevated formal sitting area, anchored by four Corinthian columns, and a 12-person formal dining room.

In the large family room, one of four fireplaces in the home, as well as the “command center” for home automation, all completely updated. Like the rest of this home, this space is bright from the top-of-the-line windows Munir installed in the home.

The large home bar has a new Miele dishwasher, beverage refrigerator, and Hoshizaki commercial ice maker. This entire area has views of the 40-foot lap pool and outdoor entertainment area.

The kitchen is loaded with luxury features, from the Rankin commercial indoor grill and two full 36-inch SubZero refrigerators with freezer drawers, to a Miele dishwasher, a six-burner Dacor gas range, and a second Hoshizaki commercial ice maker that makes up to 70 pounds of ice per day. You’ll also find warming drawers, Dacor double ovens, two SubZero 24-inch refrigerator drawers, and large upper and lower cabinets. There’s no lack of storage in this house.

Just off the kitchen, there are two temperature-controlled wine closets, a large butlery, and an oversized utility room with two niche spaces for crafting.

The downstairs master suite has its own private courtyard, with a fireplace and commercial spa with a water feature and Venture Lighting. In the master bedroom, there’s a wet bar next to the fireplace. In the master bathroom, a Kohler jetted tub, two-zone heated floors, his-and-hers triple hanging closets, separate toilets, and a large, frameless glass slower with multiple Kohler shower heads.

In the second master, which is at the top of the entry foyer staircase, you’ll find a private balcony looking over the backyard. There’s also a large private bathroom with double vanity, frameless glass shower, and deep bathtub.

No entertaining home would be complete without great outdoor space, and this home has it. The 40-foot lap pool has a sunken conversation pool with firepit on one end. Nearby, the new outdoor kitchen with granite counters, with another seating area, Lynx gas grill, and sink. At the other end of private yard, a pavilion near the master bedroom. The entire area has landscape lighting. 14929-Havenshire-U 14929-Havenshire-VGeothermal heating and cooling is one of the almost invisible luxuries of this home, and also a very environmentally friendly one. Water is forced down many 350-foot-deep holes around the property (all out of sight, of course). The temperature below the ground stays fairly consistent all year, so that water always comes back up around 60 degrees. Up near the second master bedroom, a mechanical room houses the new equipment that makes this happen, as well as six newer water heaters and HVAC units.

The amenities of this home are so extensive, it’s hard to list them all without sounding like a brochure. It may be 17 years old, but all the technology is new, and the architecture is timeless. Leave us a comment with your thoughts on this luxury home.
