Get ready, you guys. This is a good one. A really, really good one. Compass’ Amy Sack said people have been chomping at the bit to get inside. It’s now officially been open for showings since around 3 p.m. Thursday, and it’s been going gangbusters ever since.

It’s an incredible home. Don’t we always say that? But YOU GUYS, it really is. It’s located in the M Streets and it’s exceptionally large for the era and the neighborhood. It’s almost 3,000 square feet and that doesn’t even include the one-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage, which doubles as a very-in-demand AirBnB, by the pool.

Owner Sue Tarantino said when neighbors have guests or parents come to visit, they always book the AirBnB. Where some people have a real opinion on residential short-term rentals, this one is so convenient and very appreciate.

Tarantino said the most frequent comment she gets about her own backyard? It’s so serene. It is. It looks like a freaking resort with the most gorgeous pool that Tarantino and her husband head to after a long day with a glass of wine in hand.

They’re host-ers with the most-ers. Not just out-of-towners, but their neighborhood, too. During lockdown, one of their two back patios become the go-to meet up for at least six couples. All that to say, the new owners will have some incredibly big and gracious shoes to fill.

Tarantino loves to host and this house was made for it. Crawfish boils, happy hours, any excuse to have people over. There’s a kitchen out back, and if you’re wondering, YES, that’s a full-on patio above the back cottage!! Like a rooftop patio in your own backyard?!? Who gets that lucky? Tarantino said a lot of the work was done before they moved in, but don’t be fooled, she and her husband made it shine. With the help of her best friend, and accomplished designer, Kim Osborne, they gave it the modern update it was looking for and made it all look so chic. There are lights from New Orleans, sueded quartzite countertops and champagne bronze on the bathroom fixtures. It’s just so good!!

One of the things that sold them on the house in 2016 and prompted them to buy it was the wine cellar. It was already incredible and the Tarantinos just added a top-of-the-line cooling system. It even has its own condenser outside. She said her husband’s mission has been to fill that 600-bottle cellar and he finally did it.

Sack said this is would have been the dream house to quarantine in and the cellar didn’t hurt. Tarantino said it was, indeed, and they made many, many trips to Jimmy’s to keep it stocked. Hello, Jimmy’s Food Store is super close. Along with everything else in the world on Greenville. (Corner Market is literally around the corner!!)

Now let’s talk about the size of this stunner. It’s huge, right? Like not a lot of houses built in the 1920s in this area are that big. Tarantino said the best they can figure is at one point it was a duplex. It has double front doors. She said all the wood flooring is original upstairs as are most of the doors. They’re solid and have the perfect lived-in look to contrast with the sharp modern updates.

Now one of the things the Tarantinos did do was reimagine a long, difficult stretch of a room upstairs. It had a half bath attached, but they split the room in two, built out a full bathroom and added a utility room. Greg Jeffers Custom Homes completed the work and did it brilliantly.

The design is killer to begin with, but Sacks’ teammates Valerie Caddell and Kacy Hightower, give it that extra special staging touch. And all the gorgeous plants out back were created by Bee Contained who lives right up the street.

There’s no doubt this one will be gone in an instant so if you’d like to take a look, today is the day. Sack will be hosting an Open House on 5740 Morningside Ave. from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. It’s listed for $1,115,000.
