So in May, McKinney voted against a $200 million bond that would have funded a commercial airport in their fair city. This, however, doesn’t mean McKinney’s future isn’t taking off with a commercial expansion of the McKinney National Airport. The city’s plans and talks with the Federal Aviation Administration just aren’t that quickly grounded.

Evidently, there are other ways to pay for the airport being talked about. Federal funds, state funds, cash reserves, partnerships, and facility charges are on the list of possible ways to fund an airport. According to a Dallas Morning News story this week, the McKinney City Council still could allow the commercialized airport to take flight.

No matter the airport’s future, though, the very consideration of an expansion means blue skies ahead for the county seat of Collin County. The North Texas suburb is an increasingly popular place to live, and daltxrealestate.com is looking at open houses this week worthy of consideration.

4556 Lake Breeze Drive, McKinney

Sitting on almost two acres, the estate at 4556 Lake Breeze Drive allows a family plenty of space to spread out and watch any planes that someday might fly overhead. Lush green grass, dotted by mature trees, and a backyard pergola make this a beautiful living spot.

It’s priced at $1.1 million and offers endless prospects of what could be done with all this space. Greenhouse? Swimming pool? Horse barn? There’s a lot to think about here.

Mature trees and lots of space highlight this McKinney home.

The two-story home comes with countless possibilities for easy living, too. Its 5,198 square feet encompasses four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The home’s open floor plan is accented by the light flooding in from an abundance of windows.

The first floor includes an exceptionally large kitchen with details from a TV remodeling show — custom built-ins, ample counter space, a sitting area, and a pot-filler.  The primary suite is accented with the coziness of a stone fireplace and an ensuite bathroom with that spa-like ambiance everyone wants.

Working from home until an airplane whisks you away? No problem here since the downstairs office features high ceilings and luxurious wood built-ins.

Windows allow the light to flood the living area, while the fireplace makes it cozy.
An open floor plan makes this home great for entertaining.
The dining room features a spectacular chandelier along with a spectacular view.

Upstairs you’ll find three more bedrooms, two baths, a media room, and flex space with the potential to be used as a family needs.

Connie Durnal with Redfin Corporation will hold this house open from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

506 S. Benge Street, McKinney

This home offers easy access to all historic McKinney has to offer, and also modern conveniences perfect for today’s jet-set lifestyle. Built in 2016, the charming Craftsman-style house on a corner lot offers what white-picket-fence dreams are made of. The cadet blue home at 506 S. Benge Street is opposite Finch Park with its beautiful, treed trails, covered pavilions, a tennis court, and eight pickleball courts.

A white picket fence adds to this home’s tremendous curb appeal.

The hardwood floors throughout this 3,499 square-foot house give it the character of another era, yet the open-concept kitchen is large with storage expected for modern living. This four-bedroom, four-bathroom house is listed at the 2023 price of $749,000. Another twist on modern living — the home boasts two primary suites, perfect for multi-generational living. Wouldn’t the Waltons have loved this?

Other features include a spacious upstairs family room, modern-day closets, and a balcony with a park view. The backyard patio adds more entertainment space to enjoy with friends and family.

Sit outside, relax, and enjoy the views.

Listed by Stacey Turner with RE/MAX Four Corners, this house will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

5209 Settlement Way, McKinney

Looking for something grander than the historic homes oozing charm near McKinney’s enchanting downtown square? Here it is, all 5,358 square feet of it.

This house could bring to mind a Tuscan villa, but it’s located in the growing suburb of McKinney.

With five bedrooms and six bathrooms, this house is priced at $1.97 million in the Settlement neighborhood at Craig Ranch. Instead of looking like a cute little McKinney bungalow, this house resembles a stunning Tuscan villa. It’s like being in Italy without a plane ride.

The house at 5209 Settlement Way is packed with luxurious goodies expected in such a striking house. The open floor plan features hand-scraped hardwood floors, granite countertops, and coffered ceilings. There’s an impressive grand staircase, two full bars, three fireplaces, and a three-car garage. You’ll count five bedrooms and six bathrooms here, plus a kitchen with Viking appliances, a handsome study, and a home theater — a way to escape without a plane ticket.

A dramatic staircase makes an impressive statement in the foyer.
With two full bars, this home was meant for entertaining.
Whether from the balcony or the swimming pool, the views are outstanding.

The outdoor areas are noteworthy, too. Relax with friends and family on the covered patios or swim in the beautiful pool. Bored with that? The home overlooks the 15th green of the TPC Craig Ranch Golf Course, home to the AT&T Byron Nelson golf tournament.

The home, listed by Realtor Jane Clark with Keller Williams, will be held open from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
