
The Mayor’s Star Council named 37 to its latest class and tapped its latest leaders for 2019-2020, it announced recently.
The MSC, while not affiliated with the City of Dallas, has worked with the Mayor’s office on various projects. Participants come from eight different sectors, including arts, business, education, government, hospitality and tourism, media, religion, and the social sector.
The 2019-2020 class is: George Baker Sr., Zhen Barrientos, Savohna Brown, Aubrey Coleman, Christina Collins, Caleb Cook, Arian Davis, Lacy Durham, Pilar Ferguson, Jeffery Moffit, Aracely Munoz, Katie O’Brien, Nicole Paquette, Laura Payne, Latame Phillips, Angelica Portillo, Brian Reynolds, Justin Ross, Zac Rudd, Aaryaman Singhal, Roselle Tenorio, Bryan Tony, Teresa Fougerousse, Victoria Tsalikis, Ruth Villalonga, Colbey Walker, Gregory Franklin, Jessica Garland, Jessica Gordon, Reuben Griffin, Smitha Hanumantha, Katrina Hertz, Kyle Laney, Laura Mendivil, Ryan Mitchell, Tiffany Williams, and Sami Zaidi.
Leadership will include Lane Conner, class 2019-2020 president; LaDondra Wilson, class of 2019-2020 vice president and class of 2020-2021 president; and Cristal Retana, special advisor to the president.
“By creating the first civically-minded organization in Dallas focused on emerging leaders, we are developing a legacy of culturally diverse and connected young professionals who are committed to creating a collective impact approach to moving the needle of progress,” the organization said. “With approximately thirty members per class between the ages of 25-40, we now have a network of over 200 passionate Dallas residents.”
A project to improve downtown Sulphur Springs garnered a silver medal Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence, the organization said.
Sulphur Springs Downtown in Sulphur Springs, Texas, by Toole Design Group, was picked as a silver medalist, and the group will get an additional $10,000 to improve its plans for the project.
The Crosstown Concourse project in Memphis, Tennessee was named the Gold Medalist and recipient of $50,000 to benefit the project.
