Cute Midcentury Vibe of East Dallas Lochwood Home Offer Big Possibilities

Our Tuesday Two Hundred takes us to the lush Lochwood neighborhood of East Dallas. The home at 11324 Carissa Dr. is near greenbelts, wooded areas, hiking trails, and creeks, and the area has mature trees and is close to White Rock Lake.

This is a 3-2 with 1,300 square feet, built in 1962. The interior offers an open floorplan, vaulted ceilings, and Midcentury style. The large and open backyard is lovely with shade trees and a relaxing, new patio.

It was listed March 4 by John Prell with Creekview Realty for $249,000. Let’s peek inside before it goes under contract!

There’s a lot of love about this listing. The new paint on the exterior captures the Midcentury vibe they’re going for (although the landscaping is a little spare—it needs some more work to make the most of its curb appeal).

Inside, the floorplan is open and bright, with recessed lights and plenty of windows. Other highlights include a painted brick fireplace with gas logs in the dining area, updated bathrooms (the master has a frameless glass door on the shower), and designer finishings and hardware.

This home offers a large kitchen with granite countertops, a walk-in pantry, and stainless steel appliances, including a gas range (the refrigerator is not included in the sale, nor is the light fixture in the dining room).

There are a few “off” elements of this listing, the first of which is the photos don’t appear to be professional, which is a shame. They don’t make the most of this cute home and its amenities. (See our post 5 Ways Professional Real Estate Photographers Make Your Listing Shine to see what we mean!)

Second, the kitchen seems out of place with the midcentury vibe—the tan-and-black granite and dark Shaker-style cabinets, while attractive on their own, don’t really fit in the overall look. The layout of the kitchen is awkward, as well. There’s not a good work triangle in there.

Overall, though, this home has tons to offer, from a great neighborhood to updates and amenities, like that great backyard. What do you think? Is it priced right at $249K? Leave us a comment!
