In Real Estate coaching, there are three big names: Brian Buffini (Buffini & Associates), Mike Ferry and Tom Ferry. And now, one of the insiders from Tom Ferry is a principal at JP and Associates Realtors.

It is no secret that the DFW brokerage market is in a frenzy. Agents are jumping one firm for another, and starting their own firms left and right. A Wall-Street financed New York firm is here, Compass, with word of another major national player coming.  Coldwell Banker is back, and its no longer a secret: if a broker can not offer huge support or leads to an agent, that agent is gone. Vamoosh.

That is one reason why JP & Associates REALTORS (JPAR) is now one of the top 100 brokerages in the nation, with multiple offices across the state of Texas.  Named one of Inc’s 5000 fastest growing companies in the U.S., JPAR is a Real Trends 500 Brokerage with over $1.8 billion in sales in 2017.

And it will only get better. JPAR has hired Mark Johnson, one of the nation’s leading Real Estate coaches, as the firm’s new Chief Operating Officer.

Mark was previously Vice President of Business Development and Coaching Success for the Tom Ferry Coaching Organization in California.

“Mark’s leadership skills and experience in this industry, with past success track record of serving the real estate community and helping agents increase their productivity, was a custom glove fit for our organization,” JPAR CEO JP Piccinini said. “JPAR values of productivity and service resonate, and will amplify within our company with Mark’s new role. We are excited about the growth of our company and look to franchise and expand into more markets across the US with Mark’s leadership.”

Mark has invested nearly 20 years in understanding the inner workings of high performing real estate agents, teams, managers, and leaders in major markets across the world. In prior assignments, he served in progressive leadership capacities for the 5th largest US-based real estate brokerage firm, Prudential Cali Realty, which ultimately became an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway. And he was a top producing agent.

He also worked in progressive sales and customer marketing leadership capacities for the Pillsbury consumer goods company, and served a stint in the US Army, Medical Service Corp. He was later recalled to active duty for 90 days during the first Desert Storm campaign. The military life is all in the family: Mark’s Dad was a military officer, and he was born in Washington D.C., spent most years growing up in Colorado Springs. He graduated from Colorado State University.

With such experience, Mark has become an accomplished leader and strategist, who is known for boiling the complex down to the simple. As the Chief Operating Officer for JPAR enterprises, he will be accountable for sustainable growth and the daily operations of a highly entrepreneurial 1,100-agent firm.

“What excites me most about joining JP & Associates REALTORS is the amazing management team and the exceptional and productive agents,” Johnson said. “Joining a team that has set standards, raised the bar in serving the agent and the consumer is inspiring. The culture is very unique and special–a culture of sharing best practices so everyone is served and everyone can win.”

Mark comes to Texas from Orange County, but Texas is sort of like coming home.

“When I was in the Army, I was stationed in San Antonio, and loved it,” Mark told me. “I’ve been watching JP for the last five years, tracking his success. He has built a culture that is a top producers dream. He has built a culture based on standards, productivity and service. I’ve known him since he started the firm literally in the back of his car.”

They first met at an industry conference, and Mark was impressed with JP’s vision.

We also talked Texas Real Estate: “I am a buyer, as a buyer, I’m pretty impressed with the options available from new builds to pre existing inventory,” he told me.

Mark hasn’t bought a home yet, but he says he is looking and it’s good training to be coming in as a buyer.

“I’m going through the steps our agents go through,” he said. “Very impressed with the quality of the homes I’ve seen.

I did eek out a little favorite part of town — “I’ve seen some things in the canals that are unique and different from other homes in the area,” he said.  “But really, I’m looking at it all.”
