It’s Wednesday, So Let’s Do the Time Warp Again

wtf01091901For this week’s Wednesday WTF, we’ve found a listing that is a bit of a time warp, again.

Now, we’re not afraid of a house that time forgot, I mean, we wrote about three last year. And we never cease to be amazed at a listing where nothing has changed in more than 40 years.

So when we got this listing this week for a house in Gladewater, Texas, we knew we had to share, because sharing is caring, and we care a lot.

Now, right off the bat, you know this house is different because it’s round. Or parts of it are round.

But the second you walk into the home, you see that not much has changed since 1952, when it was built. This is one swingin’ pad (although I will say it appears the wood floors have been very well maintained).

And I don’t hate everything, either. I’m kind of digging, for instance, the wallpaper in the dining room, and that chandelier.

Sidebar: Sia ruined me for pronouncing chandelier the right way forever. Doesn’t everyone have to resist the urge to say, “Chan-dah-lah-eer?”

At any rate, the house seems to be well-maintained, albeit a complete time warp. Like, in some photos, I swear Steve and Eydie are gonna come popping out of the curtains.

See? Steve and Eydie.

The kitchen appears to have a good footprint, but is in definite need of a good update.

And some of the photos are a little hard to explain, like this one, that I like to call, “the lonely office chair.”

See? Mirrors DO make the room look bigger, and they give you the illusion of two lonely office chairs.

I can’t help but wonder if this house would’ve generated more than curiosity if it had been photographed better, though. I know the price point might lead one to think professional photography isn’t in the budget, but all the photos are so dark.

In fact, that would be one of my biggest pieces of advice to any Realtor thinking of shooting the photos for their listing on their own — if it looks dark on your computer screen, or on your smartphone screen, it’s dark. Go back and open up some curtains, or you know, consider hiring a professional.

But what do you think of the home? Would you gut it, or save part of that time warp? Let us know!
