Is this Preston Hollow Texas Modern the Home of the Future?

Just when we think we have seen it all, along comes this unbelievable Preston Hollow Texas modern at 11422 East Ricks Circle.

Candy and I were lucky enough to see this gorgeous 6,069-square-foot home in person last Thursday night. Although it was hard, we managed to stay off the zip line, but only because this home has so many bells and whistles we ran out of time for a mid-air tour of the backyard.

Architect Dick Clark teamed up with builder Rusty Goff to create what we think is a masterpiece of design, ingenuity, quality, and livability. Clark was the principal of Dick Clark + Associates in Austin and is often referred to as the godfather of contemporary architecture. Although best known for his award-winning commercial projects, he created private residences, like this Texas modern, for a few lucky homeowners.

The stucco and limestone Texas modern home blends seamlessly into almost an acre of lush landscape and backs up to a creek which affords breathtaking views out of every soaring window.11422-E-Ricks-Cir-29

You will find Montigo fireplaces throughout the house.

One of the primary features of this house is livability. It is, without a doubt, a home built for a family, hence that zip line. It was created for the comfort of children, as well as adults with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a powder bath, and a full guest quarters. Our Daltxrealestate.com test of livability is being able to clean a home with a leaf blower. So, all those floor-to-ceiling glass doors throughout this Texas modern aren’t just dramatic and beautiful, they are also practical!

11422-E-Ricks-Cir-29An absolute genius concept — and hats off to Goff for his building expertise on this feature — is the giant pocket door between the kitchen from the dining room. You may love that open plan concept until you have a messy kitchen and guests walking in the front door.
11422-E-Ricks-Cir-6This gives you the best of both worlds. And the kitchen is simply swoon-worthy. Created by Cantoni, it has everything you can imagine and some things you never knew existed. Along with doubles of all the essentials like dishwashers, and the must-have 36-inch SubZero refrigerators and Wolf ovens, there are three sinks and a pass-through window to the backyard. Absolutely brilliant.

11422-E-Ricks-Cir-6 There are so many clever designs in this Texas modern, like a pivot door to the guest suite, now being used as a home office, and the guest bath that conceals a huge walk-in shower. The kids’ nook tucked under the back staircase is every child’s dreamscape, and a great place to show off all of those school projects without cluttering up the refrigerator doors!

11422-E-Ricks-Cir-6 We love the upstairs master suite. The balcony overlooks the pool and backyard — the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a nice adult beverage at the end of the day.11422-E-Ricks-Cir-6

A quick word about the design of the master bathroom. How many of those vessel tubs have you seen that you know will never be used? They are so tall you’d throw your back out trying to get inside, and forget washing the dog or the baby in one. This bathroom has the best vessel tub we’ve ever seen. It’s by Porcelanosa and is lower at one end, so climbing in and out is easy! We also love the opaque glass modesty panel in the shower. Everyone knows kids grant zero privacy, so this is a practical answer to maintaining that last shred of dignity when the kids burst into the bathroom. We plan to steal this idea immediately.11422-E-Ricks-Cir-6The room everyone went nuts over on Thursday evening is the bedroom that now houses the owner’s three small daughters. It’s a triplet paradise, the most adorable bedroom we’ve seen in decades. All of the bedrooms in this Texas modern are upstairs, and that’s important when you want to keep a close eye and ear on the kiddos. Out each window, you’ll see large rocks on the adjoining rooftops. Each one of those areas is equipped with sprinklers so you can have a green roof should you so desire!

11422-E-Ricks-Cir-6Fortunately, the weather cooperated when we were there, so that we could take full advantage of this Texas modern home’s backyard — a resort-style paradise. There’s even an outdoor shower!

The house is elevator ready, has a tornado closet, and a three-car garage with a Tesla plugin. It really does have every bell and whistle we can imagine. Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s uber Realtor Becky Frey has this Texas modern listed for $4.o95 million. It’s genuinely a home of the future and it’s worth every penny.
