Inwood House of the Week: This Lake Highlands Cottage Under $500K Will Just Make You Want to Cuddle

Here is another reason why Dallas is one of the hottest places in the US for relocation: our homes are so freaking affordable. I know that we don’t have a huge lake like Chicago, an ocean like Miami or Maine, or topography and crazy hills like San Francisco and Denver. That’s why second homes were invented! Most of us cannot ski every day, and there is this thing called work. So why not enjoy one of the best commodities our region has to offer and then, when you need a break, go enjoy that beach or those Aspen mountains!

This yummy listing by our own Tony Nuncio at Dallas City Center is like living in a New England transitional every day without the crappy weather!7-stairs-1024x768

21-1024x768 15-1024x768You are in beautiful Lake Highlands, which means Richardson schools, 20 minutes from downtown Dallas or Billion Dollar Mile in Plano. You get four bedrooms, four full bathrooms that have all been knocked out to the ballpark, plus two powder rooms, a mud room (so important in a family home) two bedrooms downstairs including the master, all of this in 2885 square feet. Let’s talk about that square footage: darn near perfect for a family, plus lots of built-ins. The lot is a quarter of an acre, and there is an attached two-car garage. I am just bullish on those — if not attached, some sort of covered space because when you juggle a baby and groceries, you cannot handle a long walk from the car to the house.

Now you can tell this pool was not updated, to which I say, no biggie. It’s there, it functions, and down the road you can redo the coping and deck. The important thing is the water for cooling off in August. With heat, you can use a pool here nearly year round — we get in our spa in January!

And you can have this for less than half a million: $494,900. Yeah, Friday $500!

And I know a great mortgage company that will make buying this home a total piece of cake: the good folks at Inwood National Bank. You’ve heard me crow about them before, because they make banking not just easy but an actual pleasant experience. Kind of like it was in the old days — talking the ’60s and ’70’s. They don’t give out toasters, but they do give out the best customer service in town, which is so important when you are making the largest investment of your life!

You might even want to even cuddle your mortgage broker?21-pool-1024x768 22-rear-1024x768 23-1024x768
